I had a nurse that came to the house the first week for wound care. The pain was incredible, the drugs barely took the edge off. My family and some friends were so wonderfully supportive, I don’t even know how I could have made it through without them.
After surgery, and the unfilling of the Lap band, something I also had, along with pain, was an appetite. I wasn’t anywhere near as hungry as I used to be, but hungrier then I had been since surgery. I found I was able to eat. Not only that, I was able to eat more then I liked.
About a week later the official word came down. The biopsy results had come back and it was not cancer.
I was gaining a little weight. I had been 149 pounds on the day of surgery, so didn’t think a couple of pounds was so bad. After all, I was going back to see Dr Hottie in two weeks, as per his instructions when he emptied the Lap band. I figured my body was hungry and that I’d stop gaining weight soon. I didn’t know how wrong I was.
By early August I still had awful pain. I still couldn’t wear a bra. I was cleared to drive in mid August. I didn’t want to, the bumps still hurt. I wasn’t on pain meds any more by then, although most days I wished that I was.
