I adore books! I love reading them and giving them as gifts! When I have children over to visit, we spend much of our time sitting and reading books together. Sky Pony Press just came out with some new children’s books this month that I had the chance to review.

This was a very fun book to read out loud! Groggle is an adorable monster who stays up all night making Valentines for his “beast” friend, Snarlina. Groggle makes one after another with funny prose and beautiful decorations, like beetles. He can’t control his monster appetite, though! You’ll have to read the story yourself to find out if he ever succeeds in giving Snarlina a Valentine!

The illustrations were beautifully done with rich, vibrant colors and wonderful details. I read this book out loud to my 18 month old grand daughter, Beatrice and my 3 year old friend, Jonathan. They loved the story and the pictures! Jonathan laughed with delight at the sound effects when Groggle would eat his Valentines! I am giving this book to my daughter who is a third grade teacher. She is having her class read Valentines books to the Kindergarden class at school. I am sure they will love it and I know the students will enjoy reading it!

These two board books are a fun way to introduce early learning concepts to young children. Children can use their finger to trace along the grooves on each page to learn either their shapes or numbers. These board books were created to help children:

  • Develop hand-eye coordination
  • Encourage motor skills development
  • Boost learning through interactive play

Little Beatrice enjoyed tracing along the grooves on each page as we discussed the shapes, numbers and colors. I have a friend who does early intervention services with preschool children. These books are going to her to help her as she works with at risk children and their parents.

Any of these books from Sky Pony Press would make great gifts for your child, grandchild or teacher! Why don’t you check them out yourself? I know you’re dying to see if Snarlina gets a Valentine!

  1. Awww…Groggle is too cute! The book sounds like a wonderful book for children. My kids always loved interactive books (and still do!). The Little Groovers books look awesome, too. I always enjoy watching kids interact with books and learn. These are perfect for your friend to share with her preschoolers.
