Dobby
We humans get attached to foods we like. We hear of a new or updated recipe and get a bit nervous. We worry if we’ll like the flavor and texture. It makes sense to think about these things, since we have to eat to live. Our pets aren’t a part of the physical shopping that we do for their food. So, we have to rely on knowledge and their reaction to a product. So while they may not technically be nervous about a new recipe, you can bet that they’ll know there’s been a change by the taste and the smell. Which in the end means we worry if our pets will like the flavor and texture of their food.
I started feeding Dobby Beneful when I first brought him home as a puppy. He’s always liked the food and has done well on it. So, when I learned that Beneful had recently made changes to their dry recipes, I had two big questions.

What changed in the recipe?
The Beneful team has spent the past two years developing the new dry food recipes, focusing on using more ingredients that we dog owners are familiar with and like to see in our pet’s food. Real meat is now the #1 ingredient in Beneful’s beef and chicken dry foods. For the folks that like to feed the Beneful Salmon, the brand is working through their distribution channels to find enough salmon to update that recipe to list real meat as the #1 ingredient as well in the future. While pet owners do like to see certain ingredients, that means they also don’t like to see certain ingredients. Folks with concerns about sugar will be pleased to know that there’s no added sugar in any of our new Beneful dry food recipes.

What would Dobby think?
Dobby tried the new recipe of Beneful Originals with Beef. Before trying it for the first time he checked out the bowl, looking at it and sniffing it. Then he dug in and gobbled it right up. I like knowing that he’s getting a food with real farm-raised beef in it, as well as some real spinach, peas and carrots. I appreciated seeing how much he enjoyed the new recipe, and knowing he was eating a food with protein that would help maintain his muscles, as well as 23 essential vitamins and minerals.

It’s important to note that some dogs are very sensitive to changes in their diet. If you are planning on transitioning your dog to the new food recipe it’s advisable to do it gradually. This helps the dog adjust to the new food and helps avoid your dog winding up with an upset stomach. Here’s a tip to help make the transition smoothly in seven days.

  1. I know a few people that use Beneful for their dogs. Right now we do not have a dog but when we get there will have to check into it and see if this is the brand we’re going to use.

  2. Having real meat as the first ingredient is important. Too many dog foods have by-products instead. It’s great that Beneful has changed up their dog food.

  3. My friend just got a new dog and was wondering what would be a good brand of dog food to try. I will have to share this with her.

  4. I think Beneful is a great brand of dog food. When my father had a dog, this is what he fed him. I don’t have any dogs though, but I know this is a wonderful brand of dog food.

  5. Your dog is absolutely adorable and is such a great poster pet for this blogpost. Beneful is a brand I’ve fed my own dogs for years and it’s good to know about all the tasty & healthy varieties they offer.

  6. We’re huge fans of Beneful and have been for a long time for our beautiful dog Birddie. She’s a lab and we wouldn’t want anything but the best for her!
