Do you judge others based upon the brand of pasta they feed their family? Of course not! We all have our favorites but that’s certainly not something we should judge people on. All that really matters is that the family is being fed.
What about grapes? Do you judge someone based on whether they buy green, red or black grapes? That would be just ridiculous. I’ll bet you don’t give it a second thought.
How about the style of cheese? Do you judge someone if you see them buying a block of sharp or mild cheddar? Colby jack or cheddar jack? This brand over here at full price or that brand over there on sale? No! I bet you see someone buying the cheese they either like, need or fits their budget.
So why in the world are so many people judgmental about what a mother feeds her baby? I’d really like to know. We’re big on women’s rights in this country. A woman has the right to choose how she’s going to feed her baby and what she’s going to feed. It really is that simple. Noone has the right to judge. Just like pasta, grapes, and cheese, there’s plenty of choices on what to feed and the right one is whatever is right for you. All that’s really important is that the baby is fed, happy and healthy.
I chose to bottlefeed both of my boys. That’s right. I didn’t struggle with my decision at all, I knew from day one that I wanted to bottlefeed. And that was my choice. It may not be everyone’s choice but it was mine and I had the right to make it. I did so because I was working a stressful job with long hours and less than considerate management. One of the numerous reasons I knew I wanted to bottlefeed is because I knew for certain that I was going back to work and had no desire to pump. And so I bottlefed.
When my first son was born there were basically two choices when it came to formula. Imagine a world of only elbow macaroni or spaghetti. No linguine, fettuccine, ditalini, rotelle, rotini or any other shapes. That’s what formula feeding was like back then. You had to buy one of the big brands and they were expensive. Jumping forward more than twenty years to present day, there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to infant formula. Parent’s ChoiceⓇ products, sold exclusively at Walmart since 1998, are designed to offer the best nutrition for your child at an affordable price.
Parent’s Choice® formula is clinically proven to support growth and development and is nutritionally comparable to more expensive national brand infant formulas, including Enfamil®, Similac®, and ︎Gerber®. It meets the highest-quality FDA nutritional ︎standards and is clinically proven to be as well tolerated by infants as the national brand formulas. Choosing Parent’s Choice® results in savings of up to $600 a year over alternative formulas. This means that shoppers now have the ability to buy product that is compliant with FDA nutritional standards and the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics without breaking the bank. ︎This brand can not only save you money, but it can also ave you time since it is readily available at Walmart. This is really helpful if you’re traveling and have to deal with the hassle of discovering what store has what brand. Parent’s Choice® extends beyond infant formula to include Baby and Toddler Foods such as Yogurt Bites, Cereals, Cereal Bars, Little Puffs®, Little Fruits®, Little MunchersTM, and Little WheelsTM︎ as well as Toddler Formula for Older Infants.
I didn’t feel guilty when I chose to bottlefeed my boys. Some mothers struggle with the decision of what to feed because other people, some well-intentioned and some just plain opinionated, offer suggestions on “what’s best”. My advice to any new mother is this. Just like every child is different, so is every mother. Whether you choose to bottlefeed, breasfeed or combine by supplementing, it’s your choice that matters and not anyone else’s. Do what you think is right for you and your baby. That’s what’s best.
