We can’t, and don’t, use just any laundry detergent. As an infant my youngest had some skin sensitivities, so we have always been careful with laundry detergent. There are only a few I will use. Now clean isn’t the only thing I look for from a laundry detergent. For me the scent is also very important. I like clean clothes to look clean and smell clean. I like a nice scent, and I like it to last. Part of the reason for that it just because I like the smell of clean laundry. The other part of it is because we deal with an odor issue with my youngest son’s clothes, and the last thing I want is for clean clothes to not smell clean. Because of this I frequently use more then the recommended amount.
Tide recently introduced Tide Simply Clean & Fresh laundry detergent. It has twice the amount of baking soda power, which enables it to target tough odors deep in the fibers of your clothes. Basically, this detergent is designed to get deep into the clothes to remove the odor instead of cover it up. This detergent works on both HE and standard washing machines and comes in two scents – Refreshing Breeze and Daybreak Fresh. The clothes got clean, but then I expect that from Tide so that didn’t surprise me. What surprised me was the scent. I tried the Refreshing Breeze scent. To judge the detergent I used only the recommended amount. It had a bright and clean scent, not overly perfumey, and not too floral. The clothes smelled good when they came out of the wash and still smelled good two days later!
I’ve always liked Tide detergent. I’ve always found it to work and I’ve always found it to smell good. Unfortunately I’ve also almost always found it to be a bit too pricey for our tiny budget. I can happily say that that is no longer the case. A 50 oz bottle retails for $4.99 to $5.99, depending on the retailer.
Is it important to you how long the scent of your laundry detergent lasts? Please leave a comment, I’d really like to know!
