Can you believe that the holidays are less than three months away? I know! Where did the year go?! So now it’s that time of the year where we start thinking about the holidays. Not just what gifts we’re giving, but for some people, who’s visiting, where they’ll stay while visiting, and what miracle the house needs to undergo before they arrive. No matter if your guest is sleeping in a guest room or a fold-out couch, you still want them to be comfortable. As nice as it might be, not many of us can just decorate a room that’s only used during the holidays. So when it comes to blankets, it makes sense to get something that goes with a lot of other colors and many styles. By doing that you can change the appearance of the room simply by turning over the blanket and changing things like pillows, instead of redecorating the whole room. That’s where this blanket comes in.

The Company Store Washable Wool Blanket and Throw

The Company Store makes a gorgeous lightweight wool blanket that is not only reversible, but it’s also machine washable. Best of both worlds! The Company Store Washable Wool Blanket and Throw comes in six heathered colors – Camel, Golden Rod, Pumpkin, Graphite, Bottle Green and Lapis. With six colors (not counting their reversible side), these blankets will coordinate with many styles and decors. The throw is available in twin, full, queen, king and even throw sizes, which means you can sleep with it, or just curl up with in and watch tv or read.

Three people told me “don’t wash it!” when I mentioned I had gotten a wool blanket.  I did wash it, immediately before putting it on my bed. The first thing I noticed was that I had no problems with shrinkage like I was warned about, or mishapen material after drying. The second thing I noticed was that the blanket is very well finished. I have seen blankets over the years that weren’t finished on all four sides, or that just weren’t finished well. This wool blanket was neatly finished all the way around with self-hem edges and had no loose threads (you know the ones, you pull and the blanket unravels).  The third thing I noticed was how it felt on the skin. A couple of people had told me that wool is scratchy. This blanket is very soft and I didn’t find it scratchy to the skin.

This gives you a better idea of how the two colors in my blanket look together. For the graphite blanket that I got, the two colors are a dark gray and a medium gray. Please ignore the wrinkles in the bed, my son helped me make the bed and was very proud of himself which made me happier then a smooth bed ever could.

  1. I love wool blankets, and have washed mine. They did shrink a bit and are a bit misshapen. I love how these blankets are machine washable. I’ll be looking into these more closer this year. Thanks for the great review.

  2. Love the company store, they make great sheets but never considered ordering a blanket. Looks fantastic!
