REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY – @SentrySafe Pink 1200 Fire Safe Chest

In late August of last year our area was expecting to be hit by Hurricane Irene. We didn’t leave the area, but we did make sure we were as ready as we could be if we were hit. One thing I did was gather all of our important papers and what little jewelry I own. I put the papers in an envelope and the jewelry in a baggie, then I put both of those things inside another baggie. I threw those things and a change of clothes for each of us into an overnight bag. I called it our go bag. We were very fortunate, our area of New Jersey received very little damage. (Check out this Hurricane Irene post along with this Hurricane Irene post  if you want to see what it was like in my neighborhood after Hurricane Irene.) I realized afterwards that it shouldn’t take the threat of a hurricane to get me to get my important things together and in a safe place.

Fast forward one year. Right now, today. Hurricane Sandy is making her way towards the US. She is expected to move up the coast and likely make a direct hit on my area. The Weather Channel is using phrases like “hybrid hurricane” and “another Perfect Storm”. Admittedly, I’m a little nervous, and I don’t get nervous about these things very easily. Quite frank;y, my area is well overdue for a bad storm. This could be it, although I am hoping it turns out not to be. Whether this turns out to be a bad storm or not, my valuables will all be in one safe place – in my pink SentrySafe 1200 Fire Safe Chest.

Pink Sentrysafe 1200

Let me start by saying that the chest is not waterproof, it’s fireproof. The lock is designed in a way that it won’t just pop open during a fire, which keeps the contents safe. The SentrySafe 1200 is designed to keep your valuables safe for up to 30 minutes during a fire of up to 1550°F. The interior of the chest is 3.5in x 12in x 7.5in.

It’s got enough space to store most of the things we typically want to protect.By valuables I mean the things that matter to you – not just papers like birth certificates, titles and passports, but also things like jewelry, CDs, DVDs and flash drives. The chest is super easy to move around and carry using the built in handle.

The SentrySafe 100 Fire Safe Chest comes with two keys. This made me very happy, as there was no need to get another key made, and both hubby and I could have a key and not have to worry about finding the other if we needed to get into the chest.

I feel better knowing that if we, heaven forbid, have an emergency, that our valuables will have some protection. I really like knowing that if we had to evacuate for any reason, including hurricane or fire, we could quickly grab our chest and go.

There’s also another reason that I like my SentrySafe. Someone recently claimed to my husband that my car was on the road while we were out of town for the day. We knew that not to be the case because not only was my son busy and accounted for that day, but one set of the car keys was with me and the other set was locked away. I like knowing that no matter I don’t have to worry about our things, they are safe and will remain right where they belong.

The SentrySafe 1200 Fire Safe Chest is available for purchase online and in stores, and retails for approximately $40.

Pink is one of my favorite colors. This SentrySafe isn’t usually available in pink. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, SentrySafe is thinking pink with the release of their limited special-edition Pink 1200 Fire Chest. To help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, SentrySafe will donate $1 per pink safe sold to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, up to $25,000..
