On The Need For A New Awareness Ribbon

I’ve had two or three magnets on the back of my truck for a while. Oone was a Down Syndrome Awareness ribbon magnet, one was a magnet supporting the troops and one was a POW/MIA awareness ribbon magnet. They’ve been on there for a while. They look like this.

Today we were outside talking with my Dad and he said what happened to the magnets on your truck. I didn’t know what he meant so I turned to look, only to discover someone had stolen my freaking awareness magnets. Who does that!!!!

Now we need a new awareness ribbon for situations like this. Maybe something like this.

As a Desert Storm veteran, let me thank you for your MIA/POW ribbon. I served in a POW camp during Desert Storm.

To the person the who stole the ribbons…Suck IT!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh – I’m not surprised. I think it’s the paranoid freak in me, but I remember the first time I saw the magnetic ribbons, my first thought was how I would prevent anyone from stealing it if I bought one?

I hate it that my doubts were confirmed. I’m sorry this happened.

Some people steal anything whether they need it or have a use for it or not. They just like the rush. I think we need another ribbon that says “I’m Stupid” I’d buy a case and give them all away in one afternoon.

Wow. I haven’t seen that since right after 9-11 and the Support Our Troops and the POW ones were hard to come by. Although I can think of a few people who need that last ribbon.

@ Amanda – I had not remembered how hard some flags and magnets were for months after 9/11 until you mentioned it. Yes, there are a number of people who could use it, what a shame.

There is no end to what people will steal. I’ve heard of people stealing the Jesus fish. This reminds me of the little Walmart smilies for your antenna. I can’t remember how many of those were stole from me. I finally gave up. Sorry to hear that you lost your awareness ribbons.

@ Liz – I’d never heard of people stealing the Jesus fish, that’s just as bad. My only hope is that the person that stole them did so to use them, rather than just to take them from me.

So people are just flat out disrespectful! I am sometimes an idiot and forget to take them off my Trailblazer before I go through the car wash. Car washes just don’t like our magnets. I usually remember after I am done, then I have to look like an even bigger idiot and walk up to the car wash and ask the next person to wait while I go in and pick them all up. lol

@ Tammy – It is disrespectful. I’ve heard of that happening with some things in a car wash. I don’t go to the car wash often, something my hubby picks on me about all of the time.

Hubby once had flag ones on both sides of the car. They too were ripped off. Hard to believe that anyone who believes in America and its government would try to rip it and its fine citizens off.

    That is awful I’m sorry.
We used to have one of those cactus that hang on the antenna’s of the car and I can’t tell you how many times someone stole him. I was so tempted to grease the last one up with vaseline. Lol

@ Night Owl Mama – I’ve never seen a cactus, that must have been cute. If it had had prickly things maybe it could prickle the person stealing it from you and they’d stop, LOL.

@Cat – Thanks. You’re probably right. I’m still amazed someone would steal a magnet (or in this case three) off of a car. Jerks!
