Frigidaire - In The Heat It Has Power Plus

power plus buttons

(Pardon the awful picture. I have a terrible time taking pictures in my kitchen due to the lighting.)

Summer is here. This past week we’ve had temperatures as high as 104. This is the kind of weather that I hate to go grocery shopping in, because my food always starts to get warm and melt before I’m home. We all know it takes longer to freeze a lot of things than just one or two. With my last fridge there were times I bought ice cream in the summer and after six hours in the freezer it was still soft and not as cold as it should be. This weekend was the first time I got to use a feature on my Frigidaire 22.6 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth Professional Refrigerator that I was very curious about - Power Plus Freeze. Power Plus Freeze activates a faster rate for freezing food quickly. The freezer runs colder for 12 hours to achieve -6 degrees Farenheit. This feature is great in the summer, but also in the winter if you stock your freezer full of your favorite foods.

You may recall that the Frigidaire has a built in ice maker. It rocks. (Rocks,  as in on the rocks - get it?) It can dispense both crushed and cubed ice. Plus, the ice is filtered! The ice maker produces eight cubes every 75 to 90 minutes under normal circumstances. We’ve never run out of ice. On the panel is a setting called Power Plus Ice. This feature increases ice production, providing up to 37 percent more ice in a 24 hour period. Yesterday was the first time that we’ve entertained and needed a lot of ice on a really hot and humid day. I wasn’t sure how my Frigidaire would handle the challenge.

Yesterday we had guests over from 2 pm until 9 pm for a little party. It was a smoothie party so we had lots of beverages. Those that weren’t drinking smoothies were drinking juice, water and soda - all on ice. With our old fridge, whenever we entertained we had to buy bagged ice. That’s because we just couldn’t make ice fast enough in the ice cube trays. Even when the ice machine worked it took a long time to make the ice. The Frigidaire kept up beautifully. I’m so thrilled to say there was no challenge at all, the Frigidaire surpassed my expectations in the ice making department.

It’s a beautiful thing to open your freezer and always see this when you need ice, don’t you agree?

Flavor Your Day - Aquafina FlavorSplash - A Flavor A Day Will Keep Boredom Away

aquafina flavorsplash raspberry

During my time as an Aquafina FlavorSplash Mom Ambassador I’ve really enjoyed trying all of the flavors and have definitely developed favorites. Water is so important to the human body but plain water all of the time can get a little boring. The fruity flavors of Aquafina FlavorSplash are a great way to keep that boredom away.

The six Aquafina FlavorSplash flavors are:

My favorites are Grape and Wild Berry, followed closely by Lemon and Raspberry. The Lemon is sort of like Lemonade but not nearly as tart. I tried making iced tea with it instead of plain water and found the resulting taste to be quite interesting. The Raspberry is fruity and reminiscent of flavored water ice. All of the flavors taste best iced or cold. Peach Mango has more peach flavor than mango, something I was happy about as I’m not nuts about the taste of mango. If you like peach you’ll like this and if you like peach and mango you’ll love it. The Strawberry Kiwi I didn’t care for as I don’t like the taste of kiwi but RB loved it and guzzled it all right down.

Flavor Your Day - Aquafina FlavorSplash Grape

aquafina flavorsplash grape 6 pack

Remember that I’m an Aquafina FlavorSplash Mom Ambassador? Well this week’s flavor was grape.

Did you ever have a freezer pop? When you got towards the bottom did you suck the juice out of the plastic sleeve? I always did. Those frozen treats were so tasty on a hot day. I always thought they’d taste great in a glass on ice. Unfortunately, that would probably have more sugar than I’d care for. Lucky for me there’s something that tastes just as yummy and has no sugar - Aquafina FlavorSplash Grape.

The Aquafina FlavorSplash Grape has lots of grape flavor. It tastes very much like the frozen grape freeze pops. You can taste the grape enough that you’d almost expect this flavored water to be purple. Grapes are one of my favorite fruits. I like them chilled but other members of my family like them frozen.

Growing up my Mom always made her own ice pops. she’d use juice and water and put them into the molds and freeze. Guess what? It works with the grape Aquafina FlavorSplash too. I tried it and found the ice pops to be tasty and refreshing. I didn’t miss all the sugar from the juice at all. Try it!

How My Frigidaire Professional Saves Me Time Cleaning

fridgidaire test drive mom badge

One of the things I love the most about my new Frigidaire 22.6 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth Professional Refrigerator is that it saves me tons of cleaning time. In my old fridge nothing was easy to clean - part of the reason I didn’t clean it very often. I swear the textured doors on that old fridge were designed to hold dirt and they did a good job at that. In my new fridge everything is easy to clean.

frigidaire cleaning 1

frigidaire cleaning 2

The outside of new my fridge is real stainless steel with a protective coating that reduces fingerprints and smudges. It doesn’t hold dirt like my old white fridge because there are no textured surfaces to hold the dirt. You can wipe off the sides and front quickly and easily and in just a minute (literally) the fridge is looking as good as new with very little effort. The doors and sides are so easy to clean - no need for any scrubbing. I have actually grabbed a baby wipe when company arrived and I needed to do a quick spruce up and the doors looked just as clean as they do when I use cleaner.

The inside of my new fridge is just as easy to clean as the outside. I haven’t smelled anything (good, bad or otherwise) since getting this fridge. That’s probably due to the PureAir Ultra Filters. An indicator light tells you when the filter needs to be replaced – mine doesn’t yet. The great lighting helps clean the spacious interior. After all, it’s much easier to clean when you can see what it is that needs to be cleaned.I don’t have problems reaching everything like I used to, I can just move the shelves and everything is easy to reach and clean.

frigidaire cleaning 3

frigidaire cleaning 4

Although the fridge holds more than my last and is frequently packed it’s not difficult to clean up. The shelves are designed to keep spills contained, rather than dripping all over everything else. The compartments on the door have these awesome fitted mats inside them that help keep things neat. All I have to do is slide the compartment off of the door and wipe down the mat and that’s that.

aquafina flavorsplash wild berry

I was thrilled to learn that I was selected as one of the Aquafina FlavorSplash Mom Ambassadors. Aquafina has always been my hands down favorite plain bottled water. How Frigidaire Saves Me Food And Money

I generally buy food in one of two ways – on sale or in bulk. For me the two are similar because if I buy in bulk because I get a lower price for a larger quantity and if I buy on sale I tend to buy multiple quantities. Point being, we usually have a lot of food. One of the things I love about my new refrigerator is how well it manages large quantities of food, something our last refrigerator did not do.

The Frigidaire 22.6 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth Professional Refrigerator is very accommodating, on both the fridge and freezer sides. It measures in at 35-5/8″ wide x 69-3/8″ high x 26-7/8″ deep.

frigidaire full freezer

Do you see how much food I’ve got in there? It’s a lot! The 8.50 cubic foot freezer has shelves and baskets that hold far more than my last side by side did. I save a lot of time because I can find everything quickly. In the old freezer there were only three shelves. Everything used to get buried and hide everything else so when I wanted one item from the freezer I had to take everything out to get it. Big waste of time. The PowerPlus Freeze feature allows you to quickly freeze foods that you store in order to keep foods at their freshest.

frigidaire full fridge

The fridge is huge, again larger than our last. It has the most usable shelf space as compared to other counter depth side by side models and ability to store full week’s-worth of groceries for a family of 5 inside. In the fridge there are compartments and drawers, as well as adjustable shelves – all of which are clear and easy to see through. They’re part of the SpaceWise Organization system, which includes extra bins, food-storage containers, rack extenders, etc. - all making it easy to keep food organized and easy to find when you need it.

When the light in our old fridge worked it did not light up the entire fridge. Parts of the fridge would frequently go unnoticed. You know where I mean – the corners where some foods and/or leftovers go unnoticed and then go bad. Yep, that stuff that you find when you’re on your hands and knees cleaning out the fridge twice a year. Well maybe you do it more than twice a year. Anyway. With the old fridge it seemed like I had to throw something out every week because it wasn’t good any more. I haven’t had any food go awol and spoil since getting the new fridge. Our veggies and fruit haven’t gotten soft or gone bad while stored inside the humidity-controlled crisper drawers.

I love the fridge’s automatic alerts. If one of the doors is left open or if the temperature rises above where you’ve set it you hear beeping. This is perfect if you happen to have one or more of those small gremlins that seem to occasionally leave the fridge open. I’m sure the fact that the doors aren’t staying open have helped my food stay fresher, saving me money.

Tropicana Juicy Rewards - Getting Half Of A Family Trip For Free

tropicana juicy rewards logo

It’s been nice here in the Jersey shore for a few days now. It’s warmed enough that I can finally take the comforters off of the beds. Spring is here! We’re now starting to make our plans for the summer. One of the things that my brother LB2 wanted to do was take a camping trip. Camping can be affordable but it can still be a little costly if you’re doing it during the busy season so I’ve been watching for bargains. Imagine my surprise when I found a great bargain for camping inside my orange juice!

Ok, not exactly in my orange juice, but sort of. Remember the Tropicana Juicy Rewards program I’ve mentioned? That’s what I mean by in my orange juice. I take the codes from specially marked containers of Tropicana orange Juice and enter them on the website for points. Those points are good for special savings and deals on lots of things, including camping. In exchange for one of my points I get a buy one get one free deal at the campground. That’s a savings of like $40-$50!

This weekend I want to go through and find attractions in that area. I have seen offers for miniature gold, amusement parks and other activities across the country. Now I just have to narrow them down to the area we’ll be camping in. You can search by zip code or by state. I’m hoping to find a couple of things so we can have a memorable family outing.

General Hospital

gh brand ambassador

I’m all caught up on my GH! Did you watch this week? A lot happened!

How about Maxi deciding to help Spinelli by tracking his serial killer chef? When she attacked the chef with a butter knife and had to talk her way out of it was too funny. Getting stuck in the storm drain proved not so funny, as Maxie winds up with pneumonia and in the hospital.

Sonny wants to protect Michael. So, he decides to send Michael to the island  so he can’t be called at the trial. Jason and Sam wisk him away. On the island we see something very unusual - Jason and Sam are wearing white! A constant in Port Charles and on the island, Max and Milo prove again that they are both funny and a little dorky. Michael almost puts one over on them and gets away from their semi-watchful eyes except Bernie arrives.  Dante visits the island. Max and Milo rip into him while Michael hides. While hiding I think Michael was hoping to get caught, as he wants nothing more than to go back home and take responsibility for killing Claudia.

Who else wondered why Kiefer encouraged the sexiest dress in the store when he had to know that if his college friends saw her in it that it would only make him jealous? I did not expect Kristina to blow off her date with Kiefer. Yay! She did so to chase after Ethan. Uh oh. She ruined Ethan’s plans for his date. When Ethan realized what was happening he got angry and a bit physical, grabbing Kristina’s arm leaving a bruise. Sam takes Kristina home and goes back to confront Ethan. Back at home, Kristina opens the door to find an enraged Kiefer, who beats her and leaves. Ethan goes to Kristina’s house with the hopes of explaining that he isn’t interested in romantically and finds her beaten. She thinks her attacker Kiefer is there and lashes out in defense, scratching Ethan’s cheek. Ethan takes her to the hospital. Sonny and Alexis are notified that Kristina’s been beaten and rush to the hospital. When asked who beat her Kristina answers that it was Ethan. She lied! I can only think that because she loves Ethan she doesn’t want Sonny to kill him for beating her, which he would if he knew. Instead, Sonny is left to believe his daughter and sets off to kill Ethan himself. Fortunately for Ethan, Dante stops Sonny from killing him. Noone will even consider the fact the Ethan is innocent except Jason, who considers this possibility after asking Kristina what really happened and finding an inconsistency with her story.

The results from Elizabeth’s paternity test are in! The father is really Lucky. But noone will know that for now except Helena, who’s had the test results altered.

Sonny’s trial begins. Alice (the Q’s housekeeper), Lisa the surgeon and Coleman from the bar are all on the jury. I found it interesting that Kate encouraged Coleman so strongly to be a juror, since it was for Sonny’s trial. I also found it interesting that they all got picked, despite their answers in jury selection questioning.

Next week should be a good one!

General Hospital - Lots Of Questions

gh brand ambassador

I will be caught up on my GH today! Here’s some thoughts.

Despite their ups and downs, Carly and Sonny have always shared a connection. I was shocked when last week Sonny confronted Carly about Jax, asking “When are you going to dump this son of a bitch? …I’ve waited too long to put an end to this”. That seemed intense, even for Sonny and Carly.

Like father, like son? On one hand, yes. Sonny has always had character. The character of Dante is as charming and self assured as Sonny ever was. On the other hand, no. Dante seems to love the law and wants Sonny convicted of Claudia’s murder and put in jail for his crimes. When do you think he will realize that it wasn’t his father that killed Claudia but rather his half brother Michael? The whole father-son-son dynamic of Sonny, Michael and Dante is fascinating. Michael wants to please his father and be like him and wants the secret of who murdered Claudia out. Dante hates the person Sonny is and wants the truth of who killed Claudia out. I wonder what Dante will do if the real truth comes out - that Michael killed Claudia. Will he want to protect his brother? Or will he want him punished for his actions?

Speaking of being punished for their actions, when is Kristina going to stop letting Keifer abuse her?

It’s becoming obvious that Robin doesn’t like Patrick’s attention to his ex Lisa. Patrick doesn’t like Robin’s connection with Sonny and Jason and wants her to distance herself from them. Ironic, isn’t it? Maybe he should follow his own advice.

Again and still, Dante and Lulu are so adorable.

The Freezer In Our New Frigidaire Professional Refrigerator

Well, we’ve had our new Frigidaire 22.6 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth Professional Refrigerator for a little over a month now and are absolutely loving it. One of the things we love the most is the 8.50 cubic foot freeezer. As I mentioned in my last post, our new freezer was not quite as deep as our last fridge, an old side by side. With the new model being a good six inches or so smaller depthwise I expected was to lose space. We didn’t. Both RB and I agree that the new unit seems bigger, despite the fact that we know it’s not.

Don’t get me wrong, the new model is by no means small, measuring in at 35-5/8″ wide x 69-3/8″ high x 26-7/8″ deep. What makes it seem bigger is the way the interior is set up. In our old freezer there were just three shelves and we could never find anything.

Take a look.

fridge freezer full

There’s even a space up top, above the ice maker, for a couple of light items.  We’ve found this area to be great for keeping breakfast items at the ready, since we’re very pressed for time in the morning.

fridge freezer full 1

The freezer has two glass shelves up top. What’s great about these is that they’re glass so not only can you see the items on them but the bright lighting from the top of the freezer shines through. These features have been a HUGE time saver. Even the storage on the door is friendly, the wire bins tilt open so you can move items in and out of them quickly and easily.

fridge freezer full 2

The Frigidaire Professional makes great use of the space it’s got. Rather than just shelves it has three pull out baskets. Now, rather than emptying out part of the freezer all I need to do to find out what’s in there is pull out a basket.

General Hospital

gh brand ambassador

I am so behind, the past week and a half have been absolutely wacky. Did you guys see GH at all in the last two weeks? There was some great stuff.

Let me first say that I LOVE the new beginning, which I noticed about two week ago. As each actor/character is shown they show both the actor’s name and the character’s name. All television shows could follow this lead. It’s a great way to help new viewers acclimate.

For the week before last, the big dramatic moment was when Dante lied and Sonny stayed free on bail. I think Dante was left wondering about Sonny after a conversation he had with Robin in the hospital. I wonder if this father and son pair will ever bond or become close.

Speaking of Robin. Is anyone else thinking Robin is a bit jealous of Patrick’s closeness with his ex?

There have been plenty of humorous moments too. Here are my two favorites.

A conversation between Diane and Sonny before the trial.
Diane - “Sonny go upstairs right now and take your clothes off. You might as well be wearing a big neon sign that the godfather is waiting for the jury to come kiss his ring.”

A conversation between Spinelli and Jason over the phone.
Spinelli - The eagle flies at midnight.
Jason - Spinelli, if you’re going to use code the other guy has to know what it means.

On the subject of Jason, one of my favorite characters. I liked seeing him work a little with Lucky, it’s a whole different spin on things. I think Jason really liked Johnny . I think by helping Lucky he’s hoping that maybe Johnny will be arrested before Jason has to take care of the problem.

Speaking of Lucky. Elizabeth has decided to take a paternity test. Any bets? Is the father Nikolas or Lucky?

I still find Lulu and Dante cute and funny. Do you like them as a couple?

A parting note. I notice that scenes from the week are now being shown at the ends of each episode. Thanks! I love little teasers about what’s coming up.

I’m still catching up so stay tuned for last week’s highlights.
