Bare Escentuals Buxom Lip Gloss Review

I recently got to try some lip gloss that I loved from Bare Escentuals. When they offered to let me try their brand new lip gloss, Buxom, I immediately accepted. For me, the word buxom makes me think of, ahem, well endowed women. Wondering what that has to do with lip gloss?

From the website - Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish naturally creates the look of fuller, more voluptuous lips with luminous, shine, sheer color - and no sticky or tacky feeling.

So there you have it. Buxom is lip gloss that is supposed to make your lips look fuller. Lots of women want fuller lips. Lots of men want women to have fuller lips. Many people think it’s sexy looking. Buxom uses an all-natural collagen-boosting ceramide to help repair damaged lip tissue and enable new collagen production, making lips appear fuller.

In clinical trials:

86% of women experienced an immediate increase in lip fullness.
75% of women felt that moisture in their lips increased.
96% of women were satisfied with the overall improvement in their lips.

So what did I think about it? When you put it on you feel a tingling sensation. If you’ve ever had a minty toothpaste that you really liked because it made your tongue and mouth tingle, think of that for your lips. I don’t honestly know how much fuller my lips looked but I can tell you that they felt fuller and that the sensation is actually quite pleasant. The tingling lasts for a while. This lip gloss has a sugar cookie scent, which I really liked. It provides great shine and color for a gloss, the best I’ve ever seen. That’s what I liked the most about it. The shine lasted for hours. The color was terrific, sheer but colorful and visible. Buxom also contains antioxidant vitamins A and E to help keep lips soft and protected.

Buxom is available in 15 colors and can be worn alone as a gloss or over lipstick to add shine. Buxom sells for $18.

Bare Escentuals 100% Natural Lip Gloss Review

I almost never wear lipstick. I don’t like it. I like lip gloss. The folks at Bare Escentuals recently asked me to try a few or their products including the 100% Natural Lip Gloss.

You can see the color through the clear plastic and the name of the color is on the bottom. I received two colors, Wild Honey and Sugar Cookie, for this review.

The product looks smooth on the applicator but even better than that, it feels smooth on your lips. I love that it doesn’t feel chunky or grainy. It’s a great consistency, thick enough to cover well but not so thick that it’s a great gob of goo. I also love the smell. It’s vanilla scent reminds me of baked desserts and it smells so yummy. I found that the color lasts for two to three hours, give or take - depending on if you’re eating or drinking or anything. The scent doesn’t last for that whole time so you may find yourself reapplying just to smell it like I do.

The only thing I can suggest in the way of improvement is to find a way to display the color a little better. It is written on the bottom but it’s very tiny and hard for an old lady like me to read. In a month when it’s worn off from banging around my purse I won’t know what color it is I wanted to buy.

I Feel Pretty - bareMinerals MATTE Review

I have really oily skin. One of the reasons I haven’t worn much makeup over the past few years is that it just didn’t seem worth the trouble. I’d clean my face and put on foundation, which has always felt heavy on my skin, like putty or spackle. Then I’d go to work or do whatever. Almost immediately the foundation would wear off onto my clothing. With time and sweat it looked smeared and splotchy. I stopped wearing it, figuring it wasn’t worth the bother since I wasn’t going anywhere special. Now that the weight is coming off I find myself more interested in my appearance and wearing makeup again. It was an amazing coincidence that Bare Escentuals emailed me asking for my opinion on their newest product.

bareMinerals MATTE SPF 15 Foundation comes in a neat little plastic container. The lid screws off to reveal a plastic sifter that clicks into place covering the actual foundation. You get what you need and then slide the sifter over and then no more is dispensed. It also means that if you set it on the vanity in the bathroom and something else bumps it that it won’t end up all over the floor.

I must say that I am still amazed every day I wear this. It doesn’t rub off or wear off and it covers nicely. I have oily skin and this is the first time in a very long time that my face doesn’t look shiny an hour or two after putting the product on. I love that once I out it on it lasts all day - it looks just as good when I’m leaving work as it did when I went in 8 hours earlier, which makes me feel good. I’ve gotten nothing but compliments while wearing it. I’ve had no reactions from wearing it. It washes off easily and I really think my skin feels smoother since I started wearing it. I absolutely love this stuff!
