ABOUT I DON’T KNOW HOW SHE DOES IT
Trying to balance work and family is a non-stop juggling act for Kate Reddy (SarahJessica Parker). As a determined Boston-based finance executive, she devotes her day to her job and her night to her adoring husband Richard (Greg Kinnear) and their two young children. In between conference calls, meetings, deadlines, and her daughter’s school bake sale, Kate manages to survive on a daily basis. But when she gets handed a major new account that will require frequent trips to New York, and Richard also wins the new job he’s been hoping for, both will be spreading themselves even thinner. Complicating matters is Kate’s charming new business associate Jack Abelhammer (Pierce Brosnan), a handsome executive whose unexpected emotional support becomes a source of refuge.
MY THOUGHTS
I received a copy of I Don’t Know How She Does It. I really enjoyed this movie. I found much of this movie very funny, having been a working mother for years. Kate is a pretty woman yet feels self-conscious when compared to the self-absorbed stay-at-home mom who is the head of the pta. The pressure she feels to provide the perfect homemade treat for the pta bake sale is just plain funny. Kate is a business woman and is trying to get a proposal she made accepted at work. Things start to go awry when she accidentally sends the wrong email to Jack Abelhammer, the suave, handsome, single exec she has to make her presentation to. The scene where she explains her proposal is funny, because she’s got lice and doesn’t realize it. Kate and her husband don’t have a lot of quality time together, a situation that worsens when Kate’s proposal is accepted at the same time her husband’s company wins a contract he’s been dreaming about. Kate and Jack grow closer, as does the romantic tension between them. Abelhammer makes his feelings about Kate known. Will Kate remain true to her husband? How will she and her family hold up when she is told by her boss that she must sacrifice more family time and go out of town? You’ll have to watch for yourself to see. This is a fun movie, great for a girls night in.

I took candles that I purchased and added the school logo and different pictures of the school and mascot, and put them on the candles for a silent auction, to raise funds for the school library… got a lot of phone calls after that so I wrote a tutorial on how to print your photos to add to candles.
