The View – Sports, Racism, Barbara, Angie And Lee

I was at the doctor yesterday so I’m just catching up on The View. In Monday’s hot topic segment the ladies touched on the World Cup and the octopus that’s retiring after correctly predicting a lot of World Cup winners. This got a little funny. Then they had a great discussion on where Lebron James was going to play. It seemed odd to see a group of women discussing sports but these sounded credible and did it well. Nicely done ladies!

The ladies mentioned the recordings of what is believed to be Mel Gibson in a racial tirade against his baby’s mother. I really liked the way the ladies discussed this spiritedly but honestly. I loved how honest Whoopi was. Someone who’s spent time with someone in the spotlight could just remain quiet but she spoke up and said she thought he was being an ass. A good point was made and discussed – people often do use the image of a black man with the intent of being frightening.

Sherri mentioned she was sick of 3d movies and Joy teased her asking “wasn’t that your breast size”. Everyone was cracking up in the audience, as was I.

Whoopi looked good in a vest and shirt. It looked a little more tailored. Sherri was in a blue dress that was flattering but looked similar to something she wore the other day. Elisabeth looked fantastic in a sleeveless black dress. Joy looked great in fitted blue dress.

Yesterday’s episode is the first time Barbara Walters was live since having open heart surgery. She was on via Skype. When she came on the screen the audience went wild and gave her a standing ovation. I thought she looked great! Barbara explained the procedure she had. She explained that the valves they use to replace defective ones come from pigs and cows and joked that she was glad she got the cow because she didn’t think the pig valve would be kosher. Most importantly, Barbara reminded everyone that heart disease is the number one killer of women and we should visit our doctors to be checked regularly. Angie Harmon from the new series Rizzoli & Isles was a guest. Angie looks great for being a Mom of three girls! I’ve always thought she was attractive, when she came on RB said “ww, she’s got legs!”. The topic turned to politics and I was really impressed with something that she said – “I’m an American before a Republican”. I think that message often gets lost in the politics and it is an important message to consider.

Lee Dewyze, the latest American Idol, was a guest. He performed the song Hallelujah and talked about the American Idol Live Tour.

FYI for anyone that is in London or will be traveling there over the summer. Whoopi is going to London this August to be in Sister Act The Musical.
