Sherri looked particularly well endowed today in a gray and white dress. Elisabeth was in a green plaid and black pants outfit that looked like it was a tablecloth but it seemed awfully dark and serious. Joy was wearing a black pants sit with a greenish jacket – blah blah boring. Whoopi was wearing some black and white combo of shirt/jacket/trash bag – why does she wear such loose, unflattering things!

The big news of the day was that the special guest for Thursday July 29 is President Obama. Barbara will be joining in from home for the show.

The ladies discussed Twitter and accessibility. The segment started by mentioning a woman who was going to have total body plastic surgery to look like Kim Kardashian. Kim sent a tweet to the woman telling her that she shouldn’t and that she should be with someone who likes her for who she is. Do you think that a responsibility goes with tweeting? Joy thinks Tweeting is “nefarious” and out of control. She didn’t like that people can discuss where someone is, without them participating in the conversation. How is Twittering different than one person calling another, which is what people did back in the days before texting when they saw a celebrity. For the record Whoopi stated she has no social media profiles, because they scare her.

Here’s a clip from the segment discussing social media. Check out Whoopi trying not to crack up at the beginning of the segment.

One contestant on Big Brother said that his wife had a disease that she didn’t have in order to try and win Big Brother. In the end it turned out she didn’t have the disease and knew nothing about what he’d said. Whoopi said that these “sympathy stories” are becoming more and more common in reality tv. The ladies then discussed how they feel most of these sob stories aren’t checked out. Well maybe people are using them more because they know they aren’t checked out. Speaking of sob stories. A contestant on the British talent show Britain’s Got Talent is suing Simon Cowell because she was subjected to humiliation and degradation while on the show. She was mad because Simon said “it is a beautiful song when you’re not singing it” in reference to the song she sang. I totally agree with Whoopi – anyone who goes on these show should have no expectation of anything less than the brutal truth.

Levi Johnston, Sarah Palin’s daughter’s boyfriend. I don’t know what he did now but Whoopi said he’s like a period. I thought that was funny!

Cameron Diaz admitted publicly that she doesn’t think marriage is made to last a lifetime. Sherri said that she thinks marriage is work. I agree! Joy thinks of divorce as a kind of death and that marriage has a shelf life. I agree on divorce being a kind of death but I totally disagree on marriage having a shelf life. With work it can last. Whoopi said she believes that she can not and should not be married.

Crystal Renn was a guest. She is considered one of the most successful plus size models in the world. Years ago she overcame anorexia and bulemia. Recently some photos raised some concern that she was battling some old demons – the eating disorders. She said that the controversial photos were altered to make her look thinner. She was so afraid of being too thin that she wouldn’t exercise for six or seven years but she now feels healthy and is exercising through yoga and hiking. She told the audience that there are different types of modeling. One is if you have a 34 inch hip and is called straight size modeling. Another goes from size 8 to 20 and is called plus size modeling. Crystal has a new book out called Hungry. I thought she looked healthy and would have never called her a plus size. If she’s a plus size then I don’t even want to know what the size I used to wear was called.

The Disney Imagination Movers performed a song. Wow are they energetic! I don’t know who looked like they were having more fun, Sherri or some of the children in the audience.

Tomorrow’s guests is America Ferrera.

There are bad people out there everywhere, so I don’t think social media can be blamed for anything like this. I do think that people giving advice need to say, I’m not an expert. Just to protect themselves.

Wow that’s alot going on in one show, I think I need to start watching the view! And YES I do think there is a responsibility that goes with tweeting. Your impacting a very large amount of people who will all see and take things differently and it’s important to think about that before randomly tweeting.

Deal-ectible Mom – I agree, people should think before they tweet. I fully believe that people should think before they speak and I think tweeting is an extension of that.

I don’t watch shows because of what people wear or don’t except What Not to Wear.
What people say and do on TV is not usually real or spontaneous. It’s entertainment, usually put on.
