The View – Financial Abortion, Selena, Carol And Miscellaneous Silliness

Joy – In black again? What more can I say? Whoopi had on a shirt and vest today, it seemed a little more fitted and flattering than some of the others she’s worn. Elisabeth was wearing a black and white striped dress that made me think of black and white candy canes and black and white candy striper uniforms.

Guest host Jacque Reid brought up the topic of what she called “financial abortion”. I hadn’t heard of this one before and I was pretty appalled. Apparently a sociology professor at Brown is saying that if a man says up front they don’t want a baby before they have sex then they should not be held responsible if the woman gets pregnant. HORSESHIT! I am 200% with Elisabeth on this one – this will make things worse and create even more deadbeat dads. I can’t say this clearly enough – if you willingly participate in sex then you need to be responsible for all consequences. If you don’t want to have a child, don’t have sex. The ladies discussed contracts. Imagine whipping out a piece of paper in the heat of the moment. Whoopi made a funny remark, saying perhaps they should package the contract with the condom. Lindsay Lohan started her 90 day jail sentence today. She could serve as little as a quarter of that.

87 year old CBS Sumner Redstone CEO of Viacom and CBS was recorded asking a reporter to reveal is sources, saying “we’re not going to kill him, we’re not going to fire him, we just want to talk to him”. Perhaps it’s due to age that he clearly was not in possession of his full faculties to leave a message like that.

Did you know that some members of the cast from the show Jersey Shore were on strike? I didn’t. Do you care? Not me. Apparently Snooki, Paulie D, The Situation and J Woww took a pay cut. The rest got a small pay increase but their gel and tanning won’t be included. Apparently the show has been so successful that execs are hard at work creating an Asian American version of the show for LA.

Forever 21 sells younger style maternity clothing. The question was raised why they had so many stores in areas with high teen pregnancy rates. Do you think cute maternity clothing encourages young girls to get pregnant? I think that’s ridiculous.

Selena Gomez, star of Disney’s Wizards Of Waverly Place and starring in the movie Ramona and Beezus was on. Her singing career is doing well. She’s got a new fashion line called Dream Out Loud, available only at Kmart. They did a little fashion show of some of her outfits. Did any of you see that hat that the one girl wore with the jeggings and boots? Yech!

Did you notice Whoopi’s feet? She was wearing 2 different shoes – one black and one white. What’s up with that?

Carol Channing was on to discuss her new CD called “For Heaven’s Sake”. Wow has she had a long career! Not quite sure what was going on with her hair though – doesn’t The View have someone make sure the guests look good before they go on? Come to think of it, don’t they have someone make sure the hosts look good before they go on?
