DVD REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY – The Jensen Project
I remember we often had family movie night when I was growing up. There don’t seem to be many television movies now that have an appeal to both child and youth audiences, which is why I was excited to receive the opportunity to review The Jensen Project.
SYNOPSIS – “The Jensen Project,” starring Kellie Martin, LeVar Burton, Patricia Richardson, Brady Smith, Justin Kelly and Alyssa Diaz, is a thrilling and fun science fiction film focusing on a secret community of geniuses conducting advanced underground research to solve the world’s most difficult problems. The geniuses are thrust into a frantic pursuit to keep a potentially-dangerous technology from falling into the wrong hands. As they race against the clock to save the world, they discover that sometimes the smartest thing we can do is learn to lean on each other.
We watched The Jensen Project together and it held out interest throughout the whole thing. This movie is a cross between action and science fiction. Parents Claire and Matt Thompson (Kellie Martin and Brady Smith) are asked to revisit The Jensen Project, which is a top secret community of geniuses led by Ingrid Jensen (Patricia Richardson) that does research to help better the world that is. Claire’s old boss Edwin has stolen technology that she created and plans on selling it to people that will use in an evil manner. Their son Brody (Justin Kelly) is along for the trip to a place he’d never heard of, where he quicly finds a new friend Samantha (Alyssa Diaz). While the family and the rest of the members of The Jensen Project fight to regain the Nanobot project they learn that honesty and communication are important and have been missing for some time. I loved the way that they kept the story moving without making it boring, and the way they included technology and kept it understandable for the audience. I was surprised when I realized that Edwin was related to Claire! RB said it reminded him of a Disney movie, because it has action, adventure and humor while having no sex or offensive language. The Jensen Project is the second Walmart and Procter & Gamble-produced TV movie, the first being Secrets Of The Mountain. There was a clip of Secrets Of The Mountain in the previews and it looked like it might be pretty good so we’re going to try and find that.
“The Jensen Project” is available now on DVD exclusively at Walmart as a bonus pack with the soundtrack, produced by Randy Jackson and featuring tracks from Jordin Sparks, Alisan, Ilsey & Jordan, and Brooke White. It retails for $13, while the Blu-ray version retails for $15.
