Blogger Challenge That Helps The Athletes With Disabilities Network
I was recently contacted by Plastics Make It Possible to let me know about a campaign they are currently running to raise funds for the Athletes With Disabilities Network. The Athletes with Disabilities Network, established in 2009, is a nation wide program and a subsidiary of Easter Seals, which provides services and mentorship for disabled individuals. ADN’s mission is to promote a better quality of life by creating opportunities for people with physical disabilities. The Athletes with Disabilities Network operates and organizes the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame, the only Hall of Fame completely dedicated to honoring individuals with physical disabilities for sport and recreation achievement. Programs and services include the Extremity Games, Mentoring and Outreach, Adaptive Sports Coalition and Collegiate Scholarships. For more information visit www.athleteswithdisabilities.org. Plastics Makes It Possible is an initiative sponsored by the plastics industries of the American Chemistry Council, who strongly support ADN’s mission to promote a better quality of life by creating opportunities for people with physical disabilities. From carbon fiber technology used for shock absorption to custom-fitted sockets made from resilient polycarbonates, plastics are a vital part of the innovative, active prostheses that are used by disabled athletes in any sports they typically enjoy. For more information, visit www.plasticsmakeitpossible.com and follow @plasticpossible on Twitter. Plastics Make it Possible, is partnering with Desert Storm veteran and two-time Paralympian John Register in an attempt to raise more than $25,000 for ADN.
I am thrilled to have been invited to be one of a small group of bloggers involved in a challenge. About ten bloggers, myself included, will be displaying a widget in our sidebar where donations can be made to the Athletes With Disabilities Network. The blogger that raises the most funds will have a $5,000 donation made to AND in their name. My ten year old son is an active participant in the Special Olympics. I am a proud supporter of that organization because of the opportunities it provides it’s participants. If you have never had the opportunity to attend a Special Olympics event then you don’t know what you are missing. It is an incredible, moving experience. Organizations such as Special Olympics, ARC, Easter Seals and ADN provide valuable programs for those who might not otherwise have an opportunity. This particular opportunity makes a difference for those with adaptive aids. Please look in your heart and if you are able, donate. Not for me, but for the athletes.

What a truly wonderful cause! Every time I see a Special Olympian athlete, I get so inspired.
This is a great cause, I wish you tons of good luck!
Many volunteer groups today support Special Olympics. I am glad awareness of special needs has grown and many now support it. More still needs to be done.
