About Mille Bornes (1000 Miles) – Put your foot down… it’s time to play MILLE BORNES! Play distance cards and speed towards the finish line, or put the brakes on your opponent with nasty hazards! Drive carefully, because they’ll be playing hazards on you too. Out of gas? Play a Gasoline card. Got in an accident? Play your Repairs card. Be the first player to travel 1000 miles and win!
Before August I’d never played Mille Bornes (1000 Miles). I received the game for review just before our family went camping. Since it was so small I tossed the game in my bag, hoping we could find a little bit of time to check it out. Boy am I glad I did. Not only did we check it out, we played it every day. 1000 Miles is easy to play. The game can be played by several individuals or in teams. The goal is to drive 1000 miles. To drive the player lays down a card with a number of miles on it. The miles add up until you reach 1000. Sounds simple, right? Not quite. You see, your opponents can sabotage you by playing hazard cards on you, giving you a flat tire, an accident or an empty gas tank. Until you can play the appropriate card to counteract the hazard you can’t continue traveling. Plus you have the regular rules of the road you have to deal with, including red lights and speed limits. We had a blast playing this game. Each time we played it we understood it more and played smarter. My 14 year old and his girlfriend both enjoyed the game and asked to play it. It’s rather addicting that way. We love the game because it’s fast and fun. It’s the perfect travel game because it’s the size of a deck of cards. I’d love to see the cards come in a plastic case, or if they made the box plastic, so the cards would store better. This card game is a must have for any game collector. It’s also the perfect stocking stuffer for Christmas.
1000 Miles is for 2, 3, 4 or 6 players, ages 8 and up. One game package retails for about $6.99 and includes 115 cards, instructions and a scoresheet.
