Two And A Half Men Season 5
TWO AND A HALF MEN SEASON 5 DVD – OWN IT ON DVD – AVAILABLE MAY 12, 2009
RB and I don’t always agree on what television shows we like. There are a few that we both really like so we watch them together. Two And A Half Men is one of those shows. We both think the show is really funny. The comedic timing is great. Each of the main characters are perfect choices for their roles, which they play perfectly. I’m not sure which of us was more excited when I received a copy of Two and a Half Men: The Complete Fifth Season to review.
The Season 5 Synopsis: “Two and a Half Men: The Complete Fifth Season opens with Charlie (Charlie Sheen) topping the charts as kiddie-song sensation Charlie Waffles. Alan (Jon Cryer) at last meets the perfect woman – who just happens to be dating Charlie. Jake (Angus T. Jones) starts junior high, armed with reams of “helpful” advice from Alan and Charlie, while Evelyn (Holland Taylor) ties the knot for the fifth time (lots of guests at the wedding, lots of cops at the reception). Complicating matters further are Alan’s deeply neurotic ex-wife, Judith (Marin Hinkle), and Charlie’s domineering, unapologetically blue-collar housekeeper, Berta (Conchata Ferrell). The guys are in and the welcome mat is out at everyone’s favorite Malibu beach house.”
For those unfamiliar with the show, let me give you a rundown of the main characters that appear every week. Charlie (Charlie Sheen) is a womanizing, jingle writing, drinking single man. His divorced, somewhat nerdy, perpetually broke brother Alan (Jon Cryer) is a chiropractor that came to stay with him when he had nowhere else to go. Along with Alan came his son Jake (Angus Jones), a naive, lazy, overeating boy. Charlie’s lazy, bossy housekeeper Berta (Conchata Ferrell) takes care of the house while dropping pearls of wisdom and sarcastic remarks.
It’s very hard to pick out one favorite episode, or even a couple. “The Soil Is Moist” is definitely one of our favorites. Alan starts dating a divorced woman that used to be part of a couple friendly with Alan and his ex Judith (Marin Hinkle). Alan learns from the woman that Judith thinks her current husband Herb is the best lover that she ever had. This really bugs Alan and he starts imagining that he’s seeing Judith and current husband Herb (Ryan Stiles). The scene with Herb, Alan and Charlie discussing gardening was very suggestive and extremely funny. Our other big favorite is “Fish In A Drawer”, an episode written when the writers of CSI and Two And A Half Men swapped writing jobs for one episode. This episode is a spoof of the show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In this episode Charlie finds his mother Evelyn’s new husband Teddy (Robert Wagner) dead in a compromising position in his bedroom after the wedding. Everyone is questioned during the murder investigation and some surprises are revealed about Teddy and his daughter. A third favorite is “A Little Clammy And None Too Fresh”. Rose, back from England, plays nurse (and jailer) to a sick Charlie. She’s as loony as ever and still hung up on Charlie. Rose’s nursing treatment is the reason Charlie doesn’t get better. Jake will spend time with everyone but his father, frustrating Alan. Only when there’s nothing else to do does Jake want to go to a movie with his father.
