The word of the day is stuck
RB worked last night so I was flying solo this morning. I called for CJ to wake up at 5:20. He marched into my room and announced “Mom, stuck” while pointing to his face. Some sleepy dirt (you know, that nasty gunk that’s in the corner of your eyes when you wake up) was in the corner of his right eye and it was making it hard to open the eye all of the way. I cleaned it off with a warm cloth, hearing “oh no”, “stuck” and “ow”. We finished preparing to leave and even as we walked out of the front door CJ was still telling me “Mom, stuck”. I dropped him at Grandma’s, telling him he was fine as I left for work. He was still informing me that he was “stuck”.
Two and a half hours later my cell phone was vibrating. The school nurse informed me that CJ needed to be picked up because it was possible he had pink eye. I reached RB, who’d just hung up with the nurse as well, and told him he needed to go to the school. I called the doctor’s office, who said they’d take him first thing.
The diagnosis was conjunctivitis, aka pink eye. As it turns out, apparently pink eye can be caused by a number of things, even including colds. It can haveĀ a viral, bacterial and even allergic cause. We need to give CJ eye drops. The drops have to be given for 24 hours so the soonest he can go back to school is Wednesday. He’s had an orthopedic appointment in Philadelphia on Wednesday that’s been scheduled for a year so he’ll go back to school on Thursday.
His spirits are decent. Every so often he comes over to me and, while wearing an “I told you so” grin, tells me “stuck”. Gosh, kids sure do love to be right!

I used to get pink eye ALL the time as a kid, FYI…he’s highly contagious, he can spread it to you, to your family, his friends, etc….you HAVE to give him seperate everything and make sure he washes his hands REAL good if he touches his eyes for any reason. Trust me, I know….
