the online mom

How comfortable are you with technology and the internet? I know lots of adults who aren’t very comfortable with technology and the internet and everything that comes with it. Having sold computers and related products for more than ten years, I’m pretty comfortable with technology. I have a thirteen year old who is just as up on things as I am, which means I really need to stay on top of the game even though I’m not in that field anymore. When I find out about things I’m not very familiar with and want to learn more I hit the web and educate myself. I have recently found a site called The Online Mom that offers lots of great information and tips that could be helpful to all sorts of people, tech savvy or not.

About The Online Mom – “Online Mom is an organization and web site devoted to providing the knowledge, the advice, and the tools that will help all parents protect their kids and encourage responsible behavior as they make the most of the new digital world. Whether it’s understanding social networking, photo sharing, texting, YouTube or just finding the right video games, The Online Mom has the explanations, the advice and the recommendations you have been looking for.

The Online Mom site is user friendly and easy to navigate. Everything is broken down into helpful categories, so you can get to the help you need with little effort. Some areas are broken down by age – Kids 3-8, Kids 9-12 and Teens. Other articles are split into groups by subject matter including Basics, Hardware, Software, Video Games and Protecting Your Children.

No, I’m not posting naked. That banner is what led me to an article that I love. It’s an article on abbreviations that every parent with a child who is online or texts should see. Another area that I liked is Technology A-Z, a listing of commonly used terms and acronyms. What stood out to me about the entire site is that all of the articles are written in a very easy to understand – no technobabble in site.

Bookmark The Online Mom and take a look there for answers to your tech questions. If there’s something tech related that you want to know and you can’t find the answer on the site there’s even a way for you to Ask The Online Mom your own question.

Besides the fantastic website there are a few other places you can connect with The Online Mom.
