Stressing out over surgery and insurance
I know a few of you are wondering what the situation is with my surgery, which is scheduled for this Friday. I found out on Thursday afternoon that thanks to a change in our insurance policy at work, the insurance company isn’t going to pay the surgeons anything. I’ve been waiting since then to hear back from the surgeon’s office on what happens now as far as the money goes. I’m so angry (because I saw this coming and was assured it wouldn’t happen) and I’ve been so stressed all weekend all I’ve wanted to do is eat. I tried really hard but I did fall off the wagon. I did have a sliver of pizza on Friday night and a spoonful of mashed potatoes today. The thing is now I feel really guilty. My luck they’ll start the surgery on Friday, go in there and see that I ate and stop right there and close me up.

@ blueyes - Hey lady. It isn’t that they’re not approving, it’s that everything is being processed as out of network. I started all of my testing to get clearance for surgery earlier in the year. I was careful to find out beforehand how things would be processed because I’m a billing/coding coordinator. Right after I completed all of my tests, which were numerous and expensive, we were notified our plan was changing on 04/01. Now they tell me I should change doctors and start all over again from the beginning, oh and by the way there are no doctors in network nearby but that doesn’t matter to them. Surgery is still scheduled for Friday. I’m waiting to hear back from the surgeon’s office to see if they can help me. Until then I wait, wanting to eat and cry. - valmg
I despise the insurance companies. Most of my days lately is on the phone with them getting transplant medications approved. It’s insane really. Hopefully they will go back and approve yours. I’ve been stressed too but I’m the opposite and don’t eat. Apparently one of the few this happens too but I guess it aids in the 15 lbs I’m still trying to lose because I weighed myself this morning and have already lost 4 lbs :/
