SIX MILLION OLD CELL PHONES GIVEN NEW LIFE THROUGH THE VERIZON WIRELESS HOPELINE PROGRAM
HopeLine Provides Easy Way to Help Domestic Violence Victims and the Environment

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – Verizon Wireless’ ongoing, exclusive HopeLine® phone recycling and reuse program recently topped 6 million phones collected. That’s 6 million no-longer-used wireless phones donated by consumers and corporations nationwide; 6 million no-longer-used wireless phones kept out of landfills; and 6 million no-longer-used wireless phones turned into nearly $7 million in cash grants to support domestic violence victims since October of 2001 when Verizon Wireless launched its national recycling program.

Meet the People Behind the Donated Phones

Behind the 6 million phones are individuals, businesses and law enforcement agencies that generously donated old phones or arranged phone drives. Verizon Wireless invites you to meet some of the people whose support has helped the company increase awareness of domestic violence and help the environment. View HopeLine success stories and find handy tips about how to coordinate your own phone collection at http://aboutus.vzw.com/communityservice/PhoneDrives.html.

Help HopeLine Get to 7 Million Phones and Beyond
It’s simple – visit a Verizon Wireless store or mail us your old phone. HopeLine accepts wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition from any carrier for reuse and recycling at all Verizon Wireless Communications Stores nationwide. You can also print a postage-paid label from the Verizon Wireless Web site at www.verizonwireless.com/hopelinemailinglabel, adhere it to the package that contains your old wireless phone(s) and mail it to HopeLine.

Phones donated to HopeLine that can be refurbished are sold for reuse, and those that are not salvageable are recycled in an environmentally sound way under a zero landfill policy. Proceeds generated from the phones collected by HopeLine are put toward wireless phones and service for survivors of domestic violence as well as financial grants to non-profit domestic violence advocacy agencies.
