Being a superstar as well as a normal teenager is getting even more complicated for Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus). Her crazy double life as pop sensation Hannah Montana is taking its toll on the teen and her family. So Miley’s dad, Robby Ray Stewart (Miley’s real-life father, Billy Ray Cyrus) decides a visit to the family farm in Tennessee to celebrate Grandma Ruby’s (Margo Martindale) birthday will bring his little girl back down to earth. Far away from the bright lights and the big city, Miley reconnects with childhood friend Travis (Lucas Till). Their budding romance, along with the love of her family and friends, gives Miley some much- needed perspective on life. But when her pushy publicist (Vanessa Williams) comes calling
and a smarmy reporter (Peter Gunn) tries to dig up the dirt on Hannah, Miley is forced to make the hardest decision of her life.

I liked this movie more than I expected too. Miley Cyrus is a talented young woman that has really grown up since the Hannah Montana show started on The Disney Channel. The storyline of a girl figuring out who she really is mixed in with a little comedy and some fun music made the movie fly by and I couldn’t believe that 102 minutes had gone by and the movie was over. I wondered if aspects of the movie had been based on Miley’s real life – perhaps the stalking photographer or the disappointment of a good friend. There were some humorous moments like when the boy dropped her best friend Lilly when he saw Hannah, when Hannah had a fight over shoes with Tyra Banks, and when Miley tried to be in two places at once. The real life chemistry between Miley and her father comes through in film, making for some good parent-child moments.
The scene that looked like the most fun to me was the Hoedown. Here’s a clip.
I wonder if I could learn to do that?!
The bonus features on the DVD are great. I really enjoyed the deleted scenes because the director presented them along with where they had been and why they were cut. I also enjoyed the Find Your Way Back Home feature and getting to see best friends Miley and Emily show parts of Franklin and LA.

Speaking of best friends, check out Miley’s thoughts on friendship from an exclusive interview she gave.
Hi Miley! What makes a good friend?
Friendship is all about trust. If you can trust someone completely, then that is a good friend. That’s someone you should cherish.
And what makes a best friend?
A best friend is when the friendship goes to the next level – it’s like when you feel more like family with someone rather than just friends. Emily Osment and me have that kind of relationship.
Do you consider Emily part of your family?
We’re like sisters and she is my best friend. We will fight like sisters and we drive each other absolutely crazy half the time, but that’s the beauty of it all. She’s one of the few people I feel completely comfortable with and that’s important for a friendship. That means a lot to me because my family means a lot to me.
You mention in your biography that your relationship with Emily was a little shaky when you first started on Hannah Montana… Can you tell us a bit about it?
Well, it’s all written in the book, but it’s true. We didn’t see eye to eye on a few things when I started work on the show.
How did you get over it?
We just grew together as we continued to work together. Like I said earlier, I think we’re more like sisters than friends now. Now, we can be completely honest with each other. We can fight and we can be silly – but we will always love each other.
Can you be moody with each other too?
Definitely! We can argue and be moody with each other, but we know everything will be OK. We’ll get over it because we love each other.
Have you ever been let down badly by a friend?
Oh, sure. Things like that happen to everyone, but I’ve learned to be mature about it and just let it go.
Do you make a big deal out of it if someone lets you down badly?
No. I feel like it’s immature to do that. What’s the point? If the person isn’t meant to be a friend, then just let it go. You’ll know inside if there’s a friendship there to save, but sometimes there isn’t. If you’re really over it – and they’ve hurt you really badly – then there’s no reason to care anymore. Be mature about the situation and let it go.
Do you find it easy to tell if a friend is being genuine or not?
I think it’s harder to find people that are real in Hollywood. There’s this amazing quote by Andy Warhol where he talks about the way that everything is fake and plastic in Hollywood. I think it’s an awesome quote – and it’s pretty true.
Is Hollywood a fake place to live then?
When you think about it, this city can be very plastic. You don’t know what’s real or fake because almost everyone has a motive to be here. Almost everyone wants something.
Do you have many people you can trust in Hollywood?
It’s hard, but it’s getting better because I’m meeting more people I can trust all the time. The good thing is that I have people around me – like Emily – who I know I can depend upon and love unconditionally.
So what makes you smile when you’re feeling down?
A lot of things bring a smile to my face. Music, movies, friends, family… Everything. I’m very lucky. I wouldn’t change a thing for the world.
BFF ALERT!
Who are Miley’s closest BFFs? The answers are all here…
EMILY OSMENT
I’m very close to Emily. She’s really fun and she’s beautiful both inside and out. Emily is a really sweet, sweet person and she takes care of me big time. I take care of her too. We’re like sisters. We get along like sisters – and we fight like sisters!
VANESSA HUDGENS
Vanessa is great. I think she’s really cool and I’m so excited that she got to work on her first movie away from High School Musical at last. It’s going to be really cool for her. I can’t wait to see how she does this year.
MANDY JIROUX
Mandy is my best friend. She is actually my dancer, so she goes on tour with me – and she’s great. When I toured the States last year, it was really cool to have her with me 24/7. I’d go and stay on her bus every once in a while to escape.
DEMI LOVATO
I’m very close to Demi Lovato. We’re always Twittering each other, but we don’t get to hang out too often because we’re always working. Whenever I have free time, I love to spend it with Demi. We’ve grown really close.
Make “The Climb” on over to your local store and pick The Hannah Montana Movie up if you are a fan of Miley Cyrus (or Hannah Montana) or if you just want a fun, family friendly movie.

I hope Miley is real and doesn’t let Hollywood ruin her the way it has so many child stars.
