Guitar Hero On Tour Modern Hits For Nintendo DS

You’ve heard of Guitar Hero games haven’t you? We had just about every music game that there is, or so I thought until I learned that there are Guitar Hero games for the Nintendo DS. Who’d have thunk it?

Thanks to Mom Central I was able to try the Guitar Hero On Tour Modern Hits for Nintendo DS. Now in case you’re wondering how to play Guitar Hero on a DS, I wondered that too. The game comes with a guitar grip/fret board that plugs into the DS expansion port. The grip also includes a pick shaped stylus, which is more fun to strum with than the regular stylus. The game also includes Guitar Hero stickers, in case you want to decorate your DS.

There’s 28 current rock songs (the radio edit versions) in the game, ranging from the popular All My Life by the Foo Fighters which I love to other songs I wasn’t familiar with. You can stream songs from this game as well as Guitar Hero On Tour and Guitar Hero On Tour Decades wirelessly, as well as play with your friends in multiplayer mode.

We played the game on my DS Lite. The only problem I had was that, because my hand is on the large side, the fret board came out of the expansion slot several times. When this happens the game stops. To stop this from happening I had to make sure to get my hand in place and as comfortable as possible and not move it once I turned the game on. A way to keep it in place might be helpful in order for those of us with big hands to avoid this from happening. I preferred the Quick Play mode, where I could just pick songs at random to play whereas TJ prefers the Career Mode where your performance results earn you points to buy things. TJ and I competed in a duel. He kicked my butt but we had a good time laughing while we were playing.

Guitar Hero On Tour Modern Hits is a lot of fun. We’re having fun playing it and have already decided we’d really like to play the Decades version. My son TJ is going on a cross country trip and I know he’s going to want to take this for sure.
