Kelly Ripa has teamed up with Electrolux to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund states that “Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women. The American Cancer Society estimates that 21,650 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the U.S. in 2008 and about 15,520 women will die from the disease. It is an insidious disease that can strike without warning or cause.”
Visitors to the Electrolux Appliances site (www.electroluxappliances.com) are able to “get cool for a cause” and help through the creation of virtual lemonade stands. To create your stand all you need to do is register on the Electrolux site and then design you stand and choose what flavors you want to offer. For every lemonade stand opened, Electrolux will donate a $1 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. You can promote your stand to your friends and family (or the whole wide world using the internet) and 100% of the proceeds raised go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
To help spread this news Electrolux is giving away a French Door Refrigerator. Anyone that creates a virtual stand earns an entry. An additional entry is earned for each day that you log onto your lemonade stand. Plus, anyone donating to your stand also earns an entry into the contest.
