Black & Decker – “Work Smart… Get it Done” Contest And Giveaway
Every once in a while you read something written for the benefit of thousands, maybe even millions, of people and somehow it seems like it was written by someone speaking directly to you. I’ve mentioned from time to time that RB doesn’t always finish work or projects around the house. I’m willing to try and tackle simple projects but everything undone is just beyond my abilities. In my back hall and my front closet are about six shelves waiting to be hung. In my living room there is no trim around the windows we replaced more than two years ago. The worst unfinished project is my bedroom, where there is no trim around the windows we replaced last year and no paint on the walls. Since the walls haven’t been painted and finished and no trim is up that means there is also no curtains in there. Yep, no curtains in my bedroom. That means the whole world can look right in. Yep, if my neighbors got up at 4 am like me they’d get an eyeful. Two eyesful even. When I read the details of the new contest that Black & Decker has launched I felt like one of my neighbors might have written it with my house in mind. Check this out.
Tired of looking at unfinished projects around the house? Does your project list get started, but never quite finished?
To provide extra incentive to complete projects, Black & Decker is launching the “Work Smart…And Get-it-Done” Contest to find people with do-it-yourself projects in and outside their homes that never seem to get completed and to show the interesting circumstances some people are living in.
Black & Decker understands home improvement frustrations and is consistently offering new innovations to provide the right solutions to finish the job.
People across the country are urged to enter the contest as an outlet to show off their unfinished construction, home repair, lawn care or woodworking project. To enter, simply submit one to three photos of the unfinished project and tell us about the goal of the project, how long it has been unfinished and how it is impacting your everyday life at home. Entries will be accepted via www.blackanddecker.com/worksmartcontest.
One grand prize winner will receive a prize package valued at over $800 which includes Smart Select and Outdoor tools. The Smart Select Tool Set consists of (1) 12V Smart Select drill, (1) Smart Select Jigsaw, (1) Smart Select Complete Sanding Kit and (1) Smart Select Screwdriver. The Outdoor Tool Package consists of (1) Lawncare Center ® that includes a String Trimmer, a Sweeper and a Hedge Trimmer, (1) 18V Cordless Alligator® Loper, (1) 18V Cordless Cultivator, (1) 18V Cordless Chainsaw and (1) 7.2V Shear/Shrubber combo. The first runner up will have the option to choose either the Smart Select Tool set or the Outdoor Tool Package.
Entries will be accepted through June 18th, 2009 with semifinalists being announced on or about June 21st, 2009. Top entries will be posted on the website for the public to vote for their favorite unfinished project. Voting for the grand prize winner and first runner-up will be open from June 21st, 2009 to July 2nd, 2009. Voting will be limited to one vote per person. The grand prize winner and first runner-up will be announced on or about July 4th, 2009 via the website. Winners win be notified via the website.

We have an endless list of projects not done around our house, like kitchen renovation – changing everything, building large island, painting the cabinets, new knobs, beadboard, trim, appliances, sink, faucets, even the dishes are changing … we are painting nearly every room of the house and all the trim .. and my hubby wants to build a screen porch off the side of our house. I want to try and talk my hubby into entering the Black and Decker contest. He would do great. He could have his own show on DIY. He knows how to do everything, he does great work, and he looks like George Clooney. Blessings

I don’t think we’ll be entering Black & Decker’s contest, but I would love to win your prize! We have a few unfinished projects in our house including re-doing the screen door of our lanai, installing a programmable thermostat, putting in fan lights in a few bedrooms. The rest is stuff like painting and other interior design kind of stuff.

My undone projects include an assortment of good intentions that never, no I won’t say never, but have yet to meet their fruition.
1. Shelving in the den. Halfway completed.
2. Computer work station, hand built by myself and actually completed. I was rather proud until I found the desk was too big to fit in the room it was destined for. So it sits gathering dust in the basement with no immediate plans for it’s future.
3. Children’s Easel. Built from scratch. This project was started as a Christmas present over 2 holidays ago. I just can’t seem to finish up on the chalk and paint holders. I think I made it too elaborate.

I entered the contest! I just came back from renovating my father’s house, so it was a snap to think of what to enter!
My husband’s honey do list is getting longer, especially since we are expecting our first child.
Install new sink faucets
Replace the grout in both bathroom showers and kitchen tile.
Replace the failing front door bell
Replace both the front and back doors
Install two ceiling fans
Repaint walls (had to patch walls where electricians cut in to update wiring)
Replace guttering
Slowly convert home office into a baby’s room
Child proof EVERYTHING!

We are moving in a couple months so we will have plenty of things to out this drill to use! I am goin gto in enter the B&D contest.
I would love to win a cordless drill as my kids and I moved into a different house two years ago and I have been putting off projects for too long. I have pictures I still need hung indoors, shelves to build in my garage, and window shutters to replace outside. And a BLACK & DECKER CORDLESS DRILL would make doing these jobs SO much easier!!! I am a divorced, single mom of two and this would really help! Please pick me!! Thank you!!!!!
I won’t enter their contest because I don’t like uploading photos, certainly not because I don’t have any unfinished projects! We need to get moving on replacing our siding, replacing our fence, replacing our garage… so much to do. Sigh.

We are (hopefully) moving into a new house at the end of this month. It has a HUGE unfinished basement that we have BIG plans for, so I’m sure this drill would come in handy for us!
Unfinished? Well, many. One in particular is the flooring at the doorway from the kitchen to the garage. threshold, I guess is what you call it. Whatever it is, my husband needs to finish it yesterday!

I’d love to be entered in this contest because we just bought a new home and there are tons of projects to be done. New lights to hang, old ceiling fans need to be replaced, new pictures need to be hung, and new bookcases need to be built and installed. That doesn’t even scratch the surface really!
