Better Homes And Gardens – Ruiner Of Keyboards
I’m a week out of surgery and I’m still not hungry. Better Homes And Gardens emailed me that they had new spring dessert recipes up so I thought I’d check them out. I strongly suggest that you cover your keyboard before you look. I’ll wait.
Ok, ready?
Here’s what I found.

I know! They look so good I would like one! This picture actually caused me to drool. I hope I didn’t ruin my keyboard. I’d bake them if I was allowed to eat one but I can’t have anything like this yet on the post surgery diet so yeah, that stinks. I’ve totally saved this recipe.
The ultimate cookie for chocolate lovers features large chunks of bittersweet chocolate tucked in a chewy mocha-flavored cookie.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 4 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Beat in oil, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined. In a medium bowl whisk together flours, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; beat into sugar mixture. Stir in chopped chocolate.
2. Drop dough by slightly rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake about 12 minutes or just until edges are set. Let cool 1 minute on cookie sheets. Transfer cookies to wire rack to cool. Makes about 36 cookies.
Well there you have it. If you think that one looks yummy you ought to check out the rest of them. What rest of them, you ask? BHG.com has also posted a freshly baked batch of mouth watering, easy recipes. Scoundrels! At least they were gracious enough to share some other information for those of us who can’t indulge, like baking tips and specialty bakeware ideas.

Hi blueyes.
I love dark chocolate also. I’m going to make them as soon as I’m allowed to have one.
My son can’t have the wheat flour but we have gluten free cookies and things that he can have on occasions like that where we’re eating something he can’t have. I try not to eat differently than him too often so I might eat my cookie while he’s in school.
Thanks.
Val
Oh my lord I love, love, LOVE dark chocolate anything and it uses wheat flour to boot.
