Where can I find some good stuff to read?

At Skeet’s place of course, which is called Skeet’s Stuff. It’s Thursday and it’s time to Share Some Good Stuff with Skeet. Each week Skeet asks people to look beyond the obvious bad news and to find and share a bit of good news. Today I am want to share something I read that concerns a subject near and dear to my heart. In my travels on the internet this week I came across an article, written by a teenage girl, that I liked very much and found some inspiration and hope in.

Sydney is a fifteen year old girl that has a younger brother with Down Syndrome. Her article, entitled The Upside of Down Syndrome, touches on what life is like having a brother with Down Syndrome, and how she thinks the challenges and extra time and effort required when you have a disabled child are all worth it. But what I really liked about her article, what spoke to me personally, is the way she shared what she’s learned from her brother. She feels that having someone with a disability has made her a better, more compassionate, helpful person. She also makes a point about society that I have expressed similar views to on numerous occasions. Sydney’s story is what I consider good news. It shows there are indeed young people out there that are willing to look beneath the surface and accept a differently abled person as a person of value. Thanks for sharing your story Sydney. I hope it serves as an inspiration for some and an education for others.
