What we have here is a failure to communicate
My husband came back from work with a coat for my younger son. Now he didn’t need a new coat. We have every coat my older son has ever worn, which he’s always grown out of instead of worn out. I asked him why he’d buy a new coat when we had plenty of perfectly nice good coats around here and he got a slightly glazed over look. He recovered by saying the blue coat my son had been wearing was getting too snug and he wanted to buy him something new. I think he just didn’t want to admit that he forgot to mention it to me.
