Review of The Ultimate Receiving Blanket

I have always been a terrible swaddler. I don’t just mean bad, I mean really, really bad. I watched the nurses swaddle TJ when he was born. That’s when I learned babies like swaddling because it simulates the closeness and comfort of the womb. I was amazed at how tight they got theirs to be. Then it was my turn. I had paid attention and yet I couldn’t even get mine to close. I never got much better at it. Whenever I tried to swaddle either of my boys, as soon as I picked them up the blanket would end up by their feet in a loose, lumpy pile. Too bad I didn’t have Swaddle Designs Ultimate Receiving Blanket back then.

The Ultimate Receiving Blanket was the brainchild of Lynette Damir, a registered nurse.  From the website – “My design philosophy is to create stylish, attractive and functional products. I was inspired to create beautiful, multi-use blanket optimized for effective swaddling. My blanket includes our exclusive 123 Swaddle Tip Tag which will help parents master the art of swaddling. Much research has gone into the development of this blanket including consultations with PhDs in infant research. Everything has been done with passion and care. Each component of my blanket has been carefully selected for its color, texture, durability and beauty.

The Ultimate Receiving Blanket comes with swaddling instructions. See that square in the middle of the blanket pictured above? That’s the instructions. Want a better look?.

You can throw them away, you won’t need them. Why, you ask? Because the same instructions are on the tag sewn into the blanket. So you don’t have to worry about keeping track of something smaller than a postcard. Thoughtful, huh?

I received the Mod Circles on Blue Summer Swaddle, which is the lightweight version of the Ultimate Receiving Blanket. The receiving blankets I had for my boys were rectangular and small, this one is a generous 42″ square. It’s ideal for warmer weather or mild climates. It’s made of 100% cotton marquisette, which I can only describe as a soft, lightweight, open weave fabric. The finished corners are rounded. Blankets are also available in many other colors and patterns. Coordinating Baby Burpies and Baby Luvies are also available to purchase.

The Swaddle Designs Blankets would make a great gift for anyone but an especially thoughtful for a new parent. The blankets are available to purchase both online and in select stores across the nation.
