The story of a father, two sons and eyeglasses
Many years ago my entire family took a vacation in Walt Disney World. We all went out on water sprites and the oldest of my three younger brothers crashed into my father’s causing him to go flying off. He lost his glasses in the Disney Seven Seas Lagoon. This past week my father went on a Navy Tiger Cruise on my youngest brother’s ship. He boarded in Hawaii and stayed onboard until they reached San Diego where my brother is stationed. While on the cruise my Dad and my brother went to the smoking area. When finished, my brother started walking back to where they needed to be, thinking my Dad was with him. When he realized he wasn’t he went back to the smoking area and saw him there. He was behind my Dad and he slapped my Dad on the back and my Dad’s eyeglasses flew off into the Pacific Ocean. Please note it is only the sons, not the daughter, that cause Dad to lose his eyeglasses.
Upon getting to San Diego I got a call telling me what had happened and asking me to go to my parent’s to find my Dad’s eye prescription. Since he was going to be out there for almost another two weeks he needed to be able to see. My parents don’t have tons of money so they were going to try and find a place to get a pair of glasses made that was affordable. I found the prescription and told my parents that they ought to check out Zenni Optical, a company I blogged about once.
You may have heard of Zenni already if you listen to the Clark Howard Show on the radio. If you haven’t heard of them, the simplest way I can out it is that Zenni sells affordable eyeglasses. The two biggest ways that they keep prices affordable are by manufacturing their own brand of frames and by selling on the internet.Their selection of frames is absolutely huge. Their eyeglasses come with free anti scratch coating and uv protection and every pair comes with a free case and cleaning cloth. They carry a variety of lenses including bifocals and progressive. They also offer the popular upgrades for eyeglasses like sunglass tint, photochromic lenses and anti reflective glare coating. Some places gouge you on shipping but Zenni has a flat shipping fee of $4.95, which is very reasonable. If you or someone in your family needs affordable glasses then you should check out Zenni, like my Dad.
