The Secret Mountain review and giveaway
I was an early reader. I have always enjoyed reading and have tried to teach my son that reading can be a lot of fun. I believe that reading by and with a parent is a big part of the formation of a person’s appreciation for reading and there’s no age to young to be exposed to books. It’s also a great way for parents and children to spend quality time together. Thanks to Team Mom I received samples of some new books published by The Secret Mountain.
From the website – “The Secret Mountain is dedicated to the creation of children’s books, videos and audio recordings of the highest quality. Our main focus is to produce and publish stories and music that encompass the talents of songwriters, storytellers, singers, illustrators and animation artists alike.”
The Secret Mountain books that we received were hardcover books filled with beautifully drawn and brightly colored illustrations. The books are all written by different authors, illustrated by different artists and have different music stylings and talent on the soundtracks. Books come with a music CD to compliment the story. We got to check out the titles “Down at the Sea Hotel”, “Dream Songs Night Songs From Belgium to Brazil” and “A Duck in New York City”.

“Down The Sea Hotel” is one of the newest releases. It songs are full of well known names like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Neil Young, Billy Joel, Carole King and Don Henley. A portion of the profits from the sale of this book are donated to the Breast Cancer Fund. I really enjoyed the illustrations in this book the most out of the three books.

“A Duck In Net York City” tells the tale of a small duck following his heart and making his way to New York City. I loved the songs for this one the most out of the three books. All of the songs are great but we really liked the Belly Button song and the Nose song. “A Duck In New York City” won the Parents’ Choice Gold Award, the Juno Award for Childrens Album of the Year and the National Parenting Publications Association Honors Award.

“Dream Songs Night Songs” is actually a series of three books, each containing a bedtime story and lullabies from around the world. The one we received was From Belgium To Brazil and contained 13 lullabies. I thought it was really neat that the words for the story I love how the words to the story and the words to the songs are shown in three languages – English, Spanish and French, making the book enjoyable for children from different backgrounds.
The Secret Mountain books are available in a set containing a hard cover book and CD or a Digipak containing the CD and a pdf which has the illustrations and lyrics. The Secret Mountain books are available for purchase online through the website as well as through select online retailers. The Digipak set retails for about $12.98 and the hard cover set retails for about $16.95.
I’ve got a copy of “Dream Songs Night Songs From Belgium To Brazil” to give to the winner of this giveaway. To enter visit The Secret Mountain website and take a look around.
