Tamagotchi Connection V5 review and giveaway

I remember when TJ was younger “virtual pets” were just becoming popular. I recall that whenever I went out somewhere I saw kids with them. I thought they were neat and wondered if they were just another passing fad. Here it is ten years later and Tamagotchis are still popular.

Earlier this year Bandai released Tamagotchi Connection V5, the newest version of the virtual pets and the most technologically advanced. The line offers a redesigned look, new characters that have never been seen before and collectible souvenirs that are stored within the toy. The new feature I think is the neatest is that can now raise a family of multiple characters in one toy. The toys still have built in infrared for toys to link up with others. Tamagotchi users can access a virtual world called TamaTown for free, and V5 users have access to the new Tama & Earth Expo. Some of the things visitors to the new area can do are explore foreign areas, learn about the environment, find activities and play games.

Tamagotchi Connection V5 retails for about $14.99 and is labeled for ages 8 and up. For more information about Tamagotchi, please visit www.Tamagotchi.com.

I’ve got three Tamagotchi Connection V5s to giveaway. To enter leave a comment on this post stating who you’d give this to if you won and why you think they’d like it. Contest ends 11/17/08. US addresses only please. Comments must contain the requested information to be eligible. The winner will be selected using random.org and they must contact me to confirm they wish to receive the prize within three days of my email notifying them they’ve won. Good luck everyone!

I would give this to my daughter whose 7. She has an older sister and younger brother so instead of playing with them all the time she loves to be a loner and play by herself. This would be a great thing for her to do when she just wants to play alone.

I loved these things when i was younger!! (I’m only 22..lol) I would love to introduce something that I loved so much to my 5 year old son. He’s now getting into electronic devices and I know for sure he’d love this. He’s a pet loving kid and I’m getting kind of tired of having to buy a new pet fish every time one dies so a Tamagotchi would be heaven. This would be awesome to have, maybe it could teach him some responsibility!! :)
    Thanks,

I, too, am surprised that Tamagotchis have survived this long. I have enough trouble taking care of my very real family and pets, I can’t imagine why anyone would want to take on the responsibilities of a “virtual” one. Then again, I imagine I’m not exactly in the spectrum of Bandai’s target audience.

Our youngest, Sean, however, is a BIG fan. When his sister accidently knocked his Tamagotchi into a soapy sink last week, it was a major drama. There were tears, tantrums, accusations of murder, it was a terrible thing to witness, let alone mediate. And while I’d love to pick him up a replacement creature, well, the holidays are getting on and money’s a little tight. It’s going to be a bit before I can justify a frivolous expenditure. So I’d like to thank you for the chance to enter this contest. If nothing else, it eases some of my parental guilt!

I have to say that if I were one of the lucky three to win, I’d give this to my youngest.

My 7 year old has one and we take care of it all the time…she especially loves it when they get old enough to marry and then she gets to start over with the next generation. These are really really cool and my youngest sees how much fun they are but she doesn’t have her own. She’s been begging and begging to have one but times are just too tight for us right now and spending that little could hurt us (at least that’s what my husband tells me since he’s the bread winner…yeah right).

Anyways, I’m sure she would be so thrilled to find that under the tree this year so please add my name to the pot…I’d love to be chosen one of the lucky!!!!
