School attendance

My older son is sick. He developed a cough on Monday after his well visit. He tried to blame the cough on his booster shot. Nice try bud. Tonight I took him back to the doc to find out that he has bronchitis and the flu. One of his prescriptions is a huge horse pill and the other is a nasty cough liquid. He’s quite concerned about the next basketball playoff game tomorrow night, so I told him we’d see how he was feeling an hour before. Then he told me he didn’t want to be sick because his perfect attendance record would be ruined, which surprised me. I didn’t know he cared about such a thing. He asked me why a real illness would be held against attendance, I told him any reason a student isn’t there makes the attendance not perfect. He thinks there ought to be a one time pass with a doctor’s note for kids that are trying to have perfect attendance. What do you think?
