Review of Confessions of a Housewife

I’m finally making good on my promise to review Eve’s blog Confessions of a Housewife. The first thing I noticed when the blog loaded onto my screen is the theme. It looks terrific! The theme features soft natural colors. A woman with a vacuum is shown against a panel sort of background in the outer portion of the theme which is fixed. The blog contents in the inner part of the theme scroll as is usual. I really liked this effect, as well as the picture.

Everything on the home page is very neat and organized. Almost all of the sidebar items that typically take up a lot of room are in click to expand lists. Confessions of a Housewife is fairly reader friendly. Rss and technorati buttons are up at the top. There is an About page. I like About pages. The blog is easy to navigate and the category and archives lists are easy to find. Her categories are broad enough to fit many topics, thereby keeping the list of categories she writes in well contained. She’s done a great job with that, many bloggers (myself included) tend to create too many categories. The contact page didn’t seem to be working when I was on the page this morning, but her most recent post did mention she’s been updating the blog so it’s possible she was doing something with it.

Eve updates her blog regularly. Readers are able to easily interact by leaving comments, which thankfully require no login or registration. She writes in a familiar style, as though she’s sending an email to someone she knows. The only suggestion I really have for Eve has to do with pictures. Right now Eve has her blog set to show five posts per page. If she could include a picture or graphic once every five posts then a picture would basically appear on each page breaking up the white content space inside the theme.
