Preserve Toothbrush Review

In recent time more and more attention is being paid to products and things that are environmentally friendly. Most of us know about the three r’s of being green – reduce, reuse and recycle. My family recycles glass, plastic, cans, newspaper and boxes every week. Whenever my son isn’t sure if a product is recyclable or not he asks. I recently signed up to try a product I wasn’t familiar with. I not only ended up getting a great product but I also learned a lesson. The product is the Preserve toothbrush, made by a company called Recycline. The lesson pertains to yogurt.

The Preserve toothbrush was designed by both dentists and engineers with the goal of providing a quality toothbrush that is eco-friendly. The brush has three rows of nylon bristles, the outer row of with is softer to protect tooth enamel and gums. The toothbrush is available for sale with medium, soft and ultrasoft bristles.

It’s got a curvy 45 degree handle that looks very sleek. I found the toothbrush sturdy and comfortable to hold. It’s curved so you don’t miss hard to reach areas. The handle is made from 100% recycled plastic and comes in seven colors. The colors are bright, mine was a lime green. The recycled plastic that the handle is made of includes Stonyfield yogurt cups. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I didn’t even know yogurt cups were recyclable. I learned that yogurt cups would be considered a #5 plastic. Check if your area recycles these.

The toothbrush comes in a reusable travel case. I think the case itself is almost a selling feature. The case protects your toothbrush from dirt, dust and other undesirable things you don’t want in your mouth. It’s easy to label a case so everyone knows whose toothbrush is whose whether you’re at home or pulling six toothbrushes out of a suitcase. With a case, you can even leave a toothbrush at work in a drawer and know that you won’t reach in one day after lunch to find whiteout, ink or dust on it.

Preserve products are made in the USA in order to cut down on shipping expenses, because by using less fuel the impact on the environment by the manufacturing and distribution process is lessened. The Preserve toothbrush is not only eco-friendly when you buy it but it’s also eco-friendly when you’re done with it. When you’re ready to replace your toothbrush, send it back to Preserve using the postage paid label. The toothbrushes are reprocessed again to make plastic lumber that you would see in products like picnic tables, park benches, decks and boardwalks.

I think this product is a terrific idea because it’s made from recycled products and after using it you can send it to be recycled again into other products. The Preserve toothbrush is available at Target stores nationwide for $2.04. You can save $1 right now by using one of the coupons on the Preserve website. Preserve also makes other “green” products including razors, tongue cleaners, toothpicks, table and kitchen products.
