Potato Peeling Throwdown and How To Make Mashed Potatoes

| Sat 11-22-08 | 5 Comments

It happened by accident. We were sitting at the table eating dinner tonight, discussing what we’d have for Thanksgiving. RB is the designated potato peeler in this house, because it hurts my hands and takes me ten years to peel ten pounds of potatoes. TJ decided he wanted to help, and for some reason thought it was a good idea to challenge his father to a potato peeling contest. Now this may sound all well and good except for one thing. TJ has never peeled a potato in his life. I gave him a couple after we finished dinner to practice on. He got a hang of peeling pretty quickly, and just on his second potato is already faster than me. He got to feeling cocky and challenged his father to a potato peeling throwdown to be held Thanksgiving morning. They’re each going to peel half of the potatoes we’re serving, which will be 5 pounds each. The loser will wash all of the pots and pans AND admit on video to be posted on my blog that the other person is the better peeler. It’ll be fun to watch, and once again I won’t be peeling! After they worked out the terms I asked TJ how a person makes mashed potatoes once they’re peeled. He had an interesting answer, see for yourself.

That is too funny! And he is peeling potatoes way faster than I can do it. Can’t wait to see who wins.

That sounds like a lot of fun there! I can’t wait until my boy is old enough to challenge me to contests like that!
