On kitchens and dining rooms
My house has both a kitchen and a formal dining room. The kitchen is about 12×12 including cabinets, chest freezer and table and chairs for four so it’s pretty small. The dining room is directly next to the kitchen and is about 12×16 or so. It’s got a six foot table in it. The table was my Grandma’s. Recently while on a venture into the attic, my Dad found the leaves for my dining room table. Yes, that was leaves plural, as in two. The dining room table is now about nine foot long. We’ve got the four chairs the set came with, and another three chairs that are office furniture that they were getting rid of from my current job and my last job. What does a small ranch home need a kitchen and a formal dining room for? It’s silly. My grandparents had this had this house built and there was only two of them. There’s only four of us and we’re just everday people, what do we need a formal dining room for? Someday I’d like to knock down the wall between the two and turn the whole thing into a giant California type kitchen. So what about you, do you have a kitchen, a dining room or both?

I have a small kitchen about 12×12 with an attached dining space about the same size. I would love to have a bigger kitchen, but my kids are almost grown so I guess I will have to keep it. college is expensive! I do need new cabinets, however, I have broken drawers and some with no fronts. We have been shopping around, but Oh My! ONce again, I have one in college and a senior in high school, so they will have to be really affordable. BG

You’re very lucky to have both and a chance to redo the layout. I have just a tiny kitchen.
