How is it noone makes tween meds?

Well I took TJ to the doctor, who examined his fingers, hands and arms and informed us that he sprained his wrist. He’s not allowed to participate in gym for a week and he’s supposed to keep it wrapped in an ace bandage. We stopped at Target to pick up a bandage and some Motrin, which is when TJ discovered that the drug companies don’t consider him a little kid anymore. The doc told him to take Motrin for the pain and TJ wanted to take liquid. We went down the pain relief aisle, which had baby products in one area and adult products in another. He found the Motrin products and grabbed the children’s liquid. I showed him the Motrin box, which is for children up to 11 years old. (To my surprise, there was no “tween” version of Motrin, or anything else. Wow, a market they’ve missed! I’m not saying I agree but there’s a drug for everything, why didn’t they make one for tweens?) I told him he’d have to take the adult stuff. The Prince of pain seemed a little disappointed he’d have to take the grown up version, which I later discovered was because he chewed medicine once and didn’t like the taste. I explained you’re not supposed to chew it. So now it’s been about two hours since he took the Motrin and he’s telling me the liquid stuff would’ve worked better. I’m thinking he just wants to be babied a bit.

My oldest will be 11. She started taking pills years ago. The doctors never believed me, it was so young. I’m thinking maybe 6. She hated liquids, except the sugary motrin & tylenol. She still will take those liquids, you just have to find the right dose. It is usually on the high end. Technically liquids do work a little quicker.

That is cute he still wants the kids stuff though, my daughter wants to be an adult so bad it is sickening. I keep telling her there is nothing she is missing out on & to enjoy childhood!

Great post though, I bet you will see tween stuff soon, lol. Drug companies don’t usually let a money maker slip by for long :)
