Family snack habits
In a contest on the Healthy Moms blog, I was asked to answer some questions related to my family snacking habits. Here are the questions, and my answers.
· What snacks do your kids view as healthy?
TJ, my twelve year old, said it could be popcorn, fruit, fruit snacks, bagels, soup, yogurt and some pudding.
· What snacks do your kids reach for when they are hungry? Is healthy a factor?
TJ goes for popcorn, yogurt and pudding first. CJ goes for popcorn first, followed by bananas and yogurt.
· Do you ever ‘trick’ your kids into eating healthy? If so, how?
No I don’t
· What are some ways you get your kids to eat healthy?
Lead by example. Control servings - when TJ is having cookies, I tell him how many. And don’t buy what you don’t want them eating.
· When do you enjoy popcorn? With your family? Watching movies? Alone time?
Our family loves popcorn. We always eat it when watching tv and movies.
· Do you have any family memories associated with snacking (a special snack)?
The only memory I have of us snacking as a family is actually either at home or at the movies, when we all share a giant bowl or bucket of popcorn and everyone ends up reaching in at the same time.
Go check out the contest, the prizes are Orville Redenbacher popcorn and bowls.
(Psst. Orville, we love your popcorn! I’d love to do a review and giveaway for you.)
