Do you help yourself to promotional items?
I was wondering something. Commerce is one of the biggest banks in our area. They have blue marketing pens with their name on it. They’re available inside the bank and there’s always one in the containers used at the drive up. My Mom always takes a pen. She took one from a employee’s desk once, right in front of the woman. The woman said that it was ok and that everyone took them. I told my Mom that I thought in the long run that free items ended up costing money in one way or another. Earlier this week I was across town picking up something for TJ for Boy Scouts and I noticed they had some of the bank pens there. We got into a conversation about the pens and the girl behind the counter said the pens didn’t always work and sometimes fell apart. Well that left me wondering why they’d keep on taking them. So what’s your thoughts on promo items? Should you just help yourself? Are they truly free?
