BN is full of bs
Almost two months ago we went into the local Barnes and Noble with my son because he was looking for a book. When they didn’t have it the man working the desk said he’d order it and it would take about a week to come in and they’d call us. After more than two weeks and no call I stopped in. I was told it hadn’t come in yet and they didn’t know why so they were ordering it again and it would take about a week to come in. Almost two weeks go by. I go in with my son ready to pick up the book and I am told again it hasn’t come in and they don’t know what the problem is since it is in stock in the warehouse, and yes you guessed it, they’ll order it again and it’ll be in within a week. Hubby and I stopped in last night to pick up the book. Can any of you guess what I was told? I’m calling another local bookstore today to see if they have it. My son has been waiting so patiently and is so disappointed. I’m tired of waiting for Barnes and Noble and dealing with this bs. Way to encourage a kid to read guys.

Here in Austin I’ve given up on B&N for the same attitude. Employees act like its a coffee bar that happens to have books lying around.
We count on Austin BookPeople – its an independent store. If you have an independent book store left in your town – patronize it and bring your own coffee! Another good place we like is Half-Price Books. Even though they are used, these guys act like they actually READ books and make a good effort at locating what you need.
