My dad quit his job several years ago because it wasn't worth having a family with how much he was gone, and family was more important to him. We had rough times for a while, but God provided. I find this an interesting question because my wife and I have been reading Money, Possessions and Eternity by Randy Alcorn. It has a lot to say about money (whooda thought) and how people relate to it.

In our church Life Group, where one of the ladies works, they are pushing for more people to work from home. She does this, so she can spend time with her family, but several other woman look down on her because of this, because she is putting family first. I believe these are the same ones whose husbands make a really good amount of money, but the wife has to work to because of their lifestyle, which is all about having the big house, cards, etc. It is all for nothing, just dust in the wind, and some don't have kids because it will cramp their style. If making more money and having 'stuff' is more important then your family, something is wrong.

Oops, I didn't mean to tangent all over the place. If you can't guess by now, I'd take less money over working at some place that I really didn't like, and I'd take less money over being gone more with more money, although it is easy for me to want to work extra and do more to provide, but I can't let that override more important things, like who I am trying to provide for.
