Son’s first concert
Well we went took my son to his first concert last night at the House of Blues in AC.
It shouldn’t be much of a stretch to guess who we saw.
(Hinder, with Black Stone Cherry and Finger 11).
The new stage looks great. My boys sounded great, as usual.
This was #7 for me and the hubby. It seems to just get better and better each time.
They played a new song Thing For You, as well as Running In The Rain.
My son really enjoyed meeting BSC, they were very nice.
MY REVIEW FOR THE FORUM
When I got to the casino my ticket wasn’t ready, so I got stuck waiting for almost an hour. While waiting downstairs for my ticket I did meet up with Pinkie. We did talk with Matt, the new tour manager. He seemed nice enough. He was surprised to hear his pic was on the web. He said now he knows he’ll have to comb his hair every day. The picture does not do him justice.
House of Blues AC is a camera free venue. They had wands they were searching people with, and I had to check the camera. Boo.
Onward. Needless to say I didn’t get to get a spot in the front for the first time ever. We’d brought my 11yr old son and I really wanted to get him close but that didn’t happen. My hubby found a spot directly behind the sound boards where we were actually able to see everything.
Standing back there was very different from the front. Usually in the front I can only hear the music, and not much else. I felt a bit like Bruce Almighty in the movie when he heard all those voices, which made me laugh.
Black Stone Cherry came on first. They did a great set, maybe a half hour or so.
My son and hubby met them at the merch table and got some things signed. They (hubby and son) told me the band was very nice and personable. The drummer had blood on half his arm after the show ended, which sort of amazed my son. My son was sort of mesmerized when they started talking to him and told them wow that was absolutely great.
Finger Eleven came on next. Their set was also about a half hour. I’d only ever heard One Thing by them, and the new single Paralyzer, both of which I like. I was disappointed to discover I didn’t enjoy the rest of what I heard at all. No stage presence either.
Then came our boys. Let me say the new set is great. Cody’s Dad did a phenomenal job putting it together. We laughed our asses off at one point. Blah was on the top of the set over Cody. So Austin’s doing the intros and introduces Cody as the one with the crazy red afro taking a shot of jager - because Blah was over him puring it down into his mouth.
The boys opened with How Long, played a few songs from the cd, played Take Me Home Tonight, a few more from the cd, Running in the Rain,
Thing for You, and closed with Get Stoned.
I still love Running in the Rain. This was the first time I’d seen Mark on the keyboards. Thing for You was really a treat, I enjoyed it very much. Great to see Cody on the guitar too.
The crowd for Hinder’s set was great. It was deafening when they played Lips and Get Stoned, as well as when they came onstage. The boys looked pleased with the turnout (sold out) and the audience.
Sometimes I just stand and smile when I think of how far they’ve come. From the first time when I saw them and the room wasn’t even half full, and noone knew who they are, through today when they’re selling out everywhere and people know who their name. It’s really great for them.
Come back soon guys, we love you!
