On linking

I have spent the last two hours this morning going through all of the links on my blogs. For readers that don’t blog, let me explain. Writing a blog isn’t enough, a blogger needs to have readers, and it needs to have a way to be found by people searching. It is not uncommon for bloggers to exchange links. See a link on someone else’s page is considered a vote to Google. The more votes (links on other sites) you have the better your pagerank is. Back to the links. While surfing, I noticed I couldn’t find my site linked on some of the pages of people I had exchanged links with. I don’t mind having a non-reciprocal link if it’s a page I read or find useful. But I cannot afford with my little blog to just leak google juice all over the place for no good reason. So I removed their links. I’ve had their links up for a month or more in some cases. Too bad there isn’t a commercial collection agency for blogroll links.
