More Garden State Sunshine.

It’s Thursday and I have some more good stuff to share! By sharing good news on Skeet’s blog more people read about it and perhaps someday enough people will read these good news stories to realize many more good things are possible.

Marlboro, NJ is about a half hour from where I live. The Kiwanis Club of Marlboro got together with a nearby Outback Steakhouse and held a fundraiser. They were trying to raise money for Project Lifesaver, which is a bracelet tracking system. I bet you’re wondering what that means. In short, it means the bracelet helps children with disabilities get home if they’re separated from their family. The bracelet is able to be tracked on a radio frequency by the police department. Project Lifesaver is an expensive project to run, as bracelets cost about $300 each. The program currently gets funding from Monmouth County, NJ Departmentof Developmental Disabilities and donations from two area utility companies, NJ Natural Gas and NJ Central Power and Light. Donations from clubs such as the Kiwanis enable more people to join the program. Way to go Kiwanis, for caring enough about the children! And how great is it that the Outback on Route 9 donated the facilities and profits, the Columbia Bank of Marlboro donated $300 and The Grandis of Freehold donated another $300. If more communities worked together like this, there’s nothing we couldn’t beat.

That is wonderful that they are doing that. It would be horrible to get separated from a loved one and have no way for anyone to help. I shudder to think about it.

My youngest has Down Syndrome. One of my biggest fears is that he will get separated from me or a family member somehow and unable to convey who he is or where he lives.
