Happy news that causes me pride
My father is currently a national officer in the Sons of the American Legion. He is a Past Detachment Commander for New Jersey. He pours his heart and guts into this volunteer organization. He has chaired the Annual POW/MIA Watchfire for fourteen years. He’s never cancelled a Watchfire. He even found a way to ensure one went on as planned in the middle of a hurricane. The Sons needs new members in order to continue to grow and accomplish their goal. It’s a very worthwhile organization. I am proud to call him my father, for what he does selflessly for family and community. Dad, I love you. I’m toasting you in the Tuesday Toast meme.
On the local front. There has been some great news right here in Brick, New Jersey recently, and I like to Share Some Good Stuff. The Sons of the American Legion Detachment of New Jersey contributes heavily to the Child Welfare Foundation. Earlier this month The American Legion awarded $42,000 to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation of Brick, New Jersey for their Hope Binders project. The binders contain support materials and are to be distributed to 140 pediatric oncology hospitals throughout the US and are designed to help support families dealing with devastating illness. I know my father and two brothers (also Past Detachment Commanders for New Jersey) and many other Sons work hard to help raise this money. Thanks Sons of the American Legion, for all you do.

Your pride is justifiable, Val. The whole “thousand points of light” thing was pretty smarmy, but volunteers really are the backbone of any community. I salute your dad and all of the others who give of themselves so unselfishly. Mahalo to you, to, for sharing the good stuff!
skeet’s last blog post..Share some good stuff!

The whole organization is great, I’m proud of whsat my Dad does for it and I’m very proud of him!
