Food for thought.
I stopped at the grocery store this afternoon for a couple of things. I went to the deli counter to get my older son some turkey. A lady on the line was getting head cheese. What in the world is that stuff anyway? It doesn’t look like cheese. It’s chunks of something in some sort of clear gel. It looks really nasty. She was offering those of us standing around waiting some, and every one of us declined. The deli clerk didn’t know what head cheese was either. now when nobody knows something and I don’t know something, I like to try and find out. So I came home and asked my pal. You know who. Google. This is what I found out. Head cheese is chunks of meat from the head (also occasionally feet and heart) of calaves, pigs, sheep and cows. I actually felt a little sick as a read about it. There’s no chance I will ever eat that stuff now, not that there was much of a chance before I knew what it was.
