Fall means I’m cooking again
Well it was 40 degrees out this morning when I got up at 5:30. The high for today is to be 68. Looks like summer’s about over. That means the end of getting the hubby to barbecue. (I am afraid of the barbeque.) See we never use the oven during the summer, the heat from the weather makes it hot enough without cooking for hours. Once it gets cooler, I like to serve hot meals. Problem is, the oven is still broken and we don’t really have the $75 for the part. I couldn’t imagine what I was going to do for the time being, until I looked on the bakers rack and saw the crockpot. It’s brand new, I bought it months ago and haven’t used it. The last time I used a crockpot was over 20 years ago, when hubby and I lived in a nasty apartment and couldn’t afford to turn the gas on. We tried cooking boxed mac and cheese in the crockpot and it was so awful the dog wouldn’t eat it. That was the end of that crockpot.
Right before summer I found a good deal on a big crockpot and figured what the heck. Today I decided I’m going to try again. But since I know how it turned out last time, I decided to look for crock pot recipes this time, figuring if it worked for someone else I can probably do it too. Onto the internet I went. I found a site called The Crock Cook, that has nothing but crockpot recipes. The site was easy to navigate because everything was broken down into categories . There was even a mac and cheese recipe. If I’d had that way back when I might have kept my crockpot all along. I never knew you could cook ground beef in a crockpot. I have some so I think I’m going to try the lasagne recipe. I’ll write how it turns out.

Hi
I love cooking but at times it can be a drag - this is when I turn to my poor old crock pot. It’s a bit battered from all the use but it still cooks fantastic meals.
I particularly enjoy lamb shanks and love this recipe:-
