Baby teeth

My youngest son had two teeth extracted this morning. He has only lost two teeth so far, and he’s eight. The two baby teeth, one on each side of the middle, had to be removed because the adult teeth were coming up behind them and everything was getting too crowded and pushed around. I got the ok from the cardiologist for him to have general anesthesia and off we went to the oral surgeon this morning. When we got there, he was not happy when the girls went to put the blood pressure cuff on him. I don’t blame him, I don’t like those things either. Then it came time to put him under. The surgeon put the mask on his face and after a moment the baby said thank you. Then he said mom, love you. Now I was able to see him going in and out, trying to fight it. His eyes kept looking heavier and heavier, then they’d pop open and he’d say love you then they’d close again. The last thing he said before he was under completely was love you and Mom. I felt like crying. Twenty minutes later they were done. He did get sick and threw up bile, so they gave him a lab coat thing to wear over his damp clothes. On the way home we stopped in the store to pick up more Tylenol for him and blood started coming out of his mouth. The cashier looked at me like I’d committed child abuse, because by that point blood was on his chin. I had to explain to her what had happened, she was looking at me so funny. I’ve put him on the couch for the day to rest and watch tv. They don’t want him exerting too much, I guess to not cause a heavy bloodflow.

See, I had to have a sleeping pill and wait half an hour and THEN get put in the chair because gas doesn’t knock me out and I’m allergic to novacain. I had to have 3 baby teeth pulled because my permanent ones were coming in already as I had an extra baby tooth. Then the fool dentist never told my parents I needed to be put into braces right afterwards else I’d end up with severely crooked teeth. Ta-da - crooked teeth even AFTER years of braces years after seeing that quack.

Oh my, poor thing! I don’t know if I would’ve been able to watch without crying. How very hard for you and him both.
